I'm starting to think that no one is interested in chatting, even if they can use voice only. Sad
Idea is great but your target audience is just not here. Geeks have problems talking to women and doing it in a foreign language scares the living s@$t out of them Smile
I thought the main reason for learning Japanese for most people was so that they could talk to (Japanese) girls in Japanese.

Though, some people just feel uncomfortable talking over internet with people they don't know personally, especially in a not-native language.

Probable setting some topics, like an interesting movie, series or website could serve to break the ice.

I'm not confident in the level of my Japanese that would allow me to do this. =.=

I do want to try this, even though my speaking skills are terrible. I'm about to go out of town, but I could bring a headset...

Ocircle, are you fluent in Japanese? Would you mind speaking with someone who speaks haltingly and badly? Smile

I'm interested as well, but the timing is an issue. Saturdays during the daytime are usually booked, especially since it's summer. I was free the Saturday night before last, but my internet was disconnected.

Another Saturday means another chance!

This chat will begin at 3PM EST(+daylights saving) on Saturday, July 17th

All you need is a mic to participate Smile
but showing your face is welcome too!

追伸, There's a chance I may not be able to make it this Saturday because I'm going camping the next day, but if that seems to be the case I'll at least leave a post saying so Smile Also, if there aren't a lot of people, I'll break out my guitar. Or if there are a lot of people and we're shy, I'll break out my guitar, and we're all going to sing campy Japanese songs together :|

The problem for me is that 3PM EST = 4AM Sunday morning for me. Just a little tough to get up at that hour for something like this...

I'll try to make this. 7am is a bit early but it's a Sunday.

Ah, you guys already ended? At least, I now know that my mic and cam are working. I wish I could've stayed longer and communicated beyond hurried messages... this morning has been frustrating, to say the least @_@

Doing it this week?

Too bad the chat doesnt support japanese text.

I would like to participate but I am experiencing a silent period and I have never spoke other than caveman japanese. I will spout out relevant vocabulary words but that is about all I can do.

I guess you have to start somewhere.
I like to think when I reach a more competent level than I will start learning to output.

That was fun! I didn't realize we could lurk. For the nervous among us, a few weeks of lurkage might be a good warmup for actually (gasp) speaking.

@Xiaohua: were you aware that your audio was quite noisy? Lot of ambient sound. Just FYI.

@Anna B : Thank you ^^ I didn't see I had a anti-ambiant-sound function, I hope it will help. Otherwise I think I will get a special headphone for that ^^
Don't hesitate to tell me if it happens again next time Smile
