Hi all. I am a long time lurker to the forum and still in the beginning stages of RTK. I just wanted to let you know that tinychat.com offers a videochat/chat room experience as well that might work and it doesn't require a plugin to my knowledge.
I would love to see this develop further so that when I get decent with conversation, I could join in!

* I looked into tokbox, tinychat, and zorap, and although zorap requires a plug in, it seems to be the most friendly to Japanese text. Tokbox won't allow any Japanese at all, tinychat allows some, but it's very hesitant (Japanese text input floats around and goes through whenever you press entre.. except you need to press enter sometimes to fix mistakes/change kanji -_-).

Zorap requires a plug in, and the Japanese text is small, but it seems to be the kindest to Japanese text. Please go to Zorap before the chat starts to obtain the plug-in / complain here if the plug in won't work. If you are using firefox, it will require you to restart your firefox to work!

How did tinychat work out for you all? I am keeping an eye on this thread because I was be starting up classes in another month and I will want to practice on all of you. Until then, I am trying to focus on RtK!

Turn out was the worst last week lol (0! participants, other than myself)

I'm starting to think that no one is interested in chatting, even if they can use voice only.

I have to wait till I'm settled in my new apartment and get internet there. After that, I'll pop on by assuming it's not completely a bad time difference with Japan.

Sorry that I didn't show up when you actually chose I time I could participate on (3PM EST is 10PM ECT) but I didn't even see it and I had people over.

Next time you pick a time like that, if I see it in time and I'm not busy, I'll join.

Idea is great but your target audience is just not here. Geeks have problems talking to women and doing it in a foreign language scares the living s@$t out of them
