Science/Learning related websites?

Are there some free sites out there that talk about Science, Animals, geography, asian religion, etc?

I have a lot of trouble finding sites in japanese that I am impressed with, kind of need some help.

That's not too bad, I actually stumbled upon that site like a few months ago. But I am actually looking for something more text based, it seems like all of those just lead to tv programs which I will watch, but I want some science/learning based stuff for my daily reading.

I'd just like to point out that while I haven't tested the content myself, I did notice a button the site under each video that was called, "学習メモ". This probably has some good stuff for daily reading. If you were to watch the video then print the PDF and read it, I'm sure you would cement not only a lot of Japanese but also a lot of general knowledge.

Videos have accompanying texts as well.

Hey is the any site more structured like a science text book out there, Like Chapter 1; Space, Chapter 2; Geology, etc. But I am saying at the basic level, targeted at middle school children, that should be a bit more enjoyable i think till my familiarity with the vocab is a bit more solid.
Oh by the way, I saw the memo thing on that other site, but they were often little exercises that the student could do as they watched, not really interested in doing any little exercises though.
