I needed a new username when signing up to the Java forums a few years ago. It kind of sounds like some sort of name, so I stuck with it, since I'm not very good at thinking up new ones.

Actually though, the story behind the censorship is on the Whale Wars thread. It was only for a couple of words and it's fairly easy to get around as you can see. However, that does not mean we use such terms to blatantly insult those we don't agree with. That's why asshole got the 'leprachaun' treatment.

Gyuujuice --> 牛juice
My first word was うし...so I wanted to use the character 牛. There was a time where I had to stay at a convent where all they had that was edible was juice. (10 or so flavors)
They called milk cowjuice to be funny and I thought that was funny for some reason.
So it's ぎゅう as in 牛乳 but it looks like cowjuice.

What's weird is, I knew what book you were talking about based on the title and description you gave, even though I haven't read it. I read the wikipedia page on it some time ago while looking for books, and I guess it stuck.
My nickname...nothing special, just a name I made up.

I choose my handle when I started playing MUD's back in the early 90's. I wanted a name that sounded strong and male and thought Axlen hit the mark. At the time I was not aware that there are people with that name IRL. I also registered Axlen.com as a domain name back in the days I was hacking on the Dreamcast.

Interesting thread
Mine comes from "Urotsukidoji". Yeah, it's a hentai and yeah, I'm femael. Shocked? XD
I was a huge fan of it a looo~ong time ago (= over 10 years ago) and I also liked the sound of the word "choujin" (the original title is: 超神伝説うろつき童子).
I wanted to change the name a little bit => chou - (+cha) - jin
As I like Japanese green tea a lot, I came up with this nickname in the end: 超茶人

I've used mine since I was in 7th grade (about 13 years ago now) and read "The Magic of Recluce" by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. Lerris is the main character of the book, and I decided I liked the name.

Song name that I heard a few years ago. Pretty much became my username for just about everything. Offshore Breeze is another I use, the "Breeze" part I added just to make it sound different, and it reminds me of my family trips to OBX, North Carolina.

My old Counterstrike, Halo and other games name. Although originally it was the character I used to make on the Smackdown games as create a character.. being somewhat Ginger that I am, and the character always ended up somehow looking like Ryu Hayabusa from the Dead or Alive series. But I guess as I study Japanese and do Martial arts anyway, I can fit it to anything I like really :p

I started using this nickname when I was about 12 I think. It really comes from Tzadik or Tzade. Tzadik is a Hebrew word that means "righteous one," and it usually refers to a spiritual master. Tzade (also written Tzaddik), is a Jewish letter. Actually, I've had a few people online point out that they know the word Tzadeck, even though that's not normally how it's romanized.
Anyway, when I was 11 and 12 I used to do role playing in Yahoo chat which did a fighting style called T2. T2 was primarily about typing quickly, the person who could type quicker with more accuracy and some fast thinking would win the battle. I was pretty fast, so I eventually got recruited to the best clan/family. I was pretty excited about it (being that I was young and still excited about stupid things), so I decided to find a badass sounding name for my character, and based it off an article online I had found about the Sephirothic System of Ten Divine names. The Sephiroth is supposed to be the 10 attributes through which God reveals himself. Somehow the article mentioned the word Tzadeck, romanized like that, even though Tzadeck is not one of the names of the Sephiroth. I don't really remember why the article mentioned it, but I think it was referring to the letter rather than a spiritual master. My name for the clan became Tzadeck Hellshade.
I've continued using the name because it's never taken, so when I sign up for things I never need to think.
Incidentally, I'm not Jewish. I was raised Catholic (I have a Catholic mom and Protestant father) and am an atheist.

Wulfgar is a character from the Drizzt series by R.A Salvatore. I use this name because Wulfgar is this huge barbarian and I really relate this character. The things I relate with him are, he's a big barb with huge muscles and I try to be like that as a bodybuilder, he has a strong sense of family and work. I also admire his strong will to rise up to find himself again, when he loses everything.

two reasons: it can be very addictive (really), after a few years of hard training, it's almost impossible to stop, because your body (and you mind) gets vey used to it. For me even when I cut some pause (a few weeks withous training) I felt like hell, it felt like my muscles were melting away or something. It realy created some sort of physiological manifestation, a sensation in my muscles, they were just "hungry" for training..I can't describe it really, but it's kind of like a headcahe only in the muscles

Secondly If you train long and hard enough, you might end up like me: with high-blood pressure, now I'm not saying that this sport always causes high blood pressure, but my doctor did say that the chances are skyrocketing if sy does heavy-weight training.... And I'm 100% natural, didn't use any drugs, or whatsoever. So if you are trying to get huge muscles, I think a little cardio on the side can help you avoid the blood pressure thingy

real name... if your nick is connected to your real name say that, you don't have to tell us your real name, for pete's sake

Or wait, didn't you know that this thread was only a prelude to the soon upcoming "what's your real name, address, and bank account" thread?

Well, me and nest0r had little problem because my previous user name Nestor caused a lot of misunderstandings. I PMed ファブリス and he was kind enough to change my user name to ネセトル which is katakana-ised version of my given name, Nestor.

IceCream Wrote:but...why would it matter if someone tells you their real name anyway? we don't use pseudonyms in real life, not even with strangers?!You're totally wrong about that. We use pseudonyms in real life all the time, we just don't know about it. It's basic human psychology.... a pseudonym can either state a more distant or a more closer relation, depending on the situation, as compared to using the official name. At least I can't remember calling either my mother or father by their normal name when talking to them, I just say mom or dad or whatever.
I also use a pseudonym when addressing my brother. This states a closer realtionship than calling them by their normal name. Of course in different countries different customs might apply.
In any case it doesn't matter if sy would like to tell their real name, but I just wanted to point out that they don't have to....that's it
