WE don't write in Japanese nor read unholy non-native Japanese because the path to fluency is reading and writing in English to other people who couldn't care less about our writing in Japanese. Or even better, reading lots of miscellaneous articles in English and commenting them in English؟

But WE shouldn't use this forum for writing in Japanese because all of US agree that it would be harmful for OUR learning. If you want to be one of US, don't do what you think or feel could be right, just do as WE do and follow the herd. You get bonus points if your posts are nonsense. Baaa, baaa... ؟

Now that I think about it, one of the things that I hated about formal classes (and I think I'm not the only one) was that even though everyone was "learning" Japanese, no one wanted to use it ever, and my classmates would even look at you as an alien if you tried to have a simple conversation in Japanese with them.

Actually, my rant includes myself too. I also spend too much time reading an writing in English here and too little reading (and even less writing) in Japanese.

BTW, Nestor, If you read even 1 Japanese article for each 10 English articles you post here, it would be very interesting if you shared those Japanese articles too (forget this comment if you're already sharing Japanese articles repeatedly and I've haven't read them yet) . Even a Japanese version of TVTropes would make me feel less guilty about not spending that time studying. WTH, a Japanese TVTropes would actually be an addictive resource for learning.

If he did that he would be fluent already and stop hanging out here. Where would we get our daily "randomly connected to Japanese" article?

He also provides a very useful function for me: because his posts are so damn hard to read/understand it makes Japanese look easy Smile

TNNって元々「The Nashville Network」と言ってあのあと「The National Network」になって最近「Spike」と言う。 面白い歴史かどうか分からないけどその放送ステイシュンで面白くない番組がある。

I had no idea that Spike was just TNN renamed. I thought it was just a new channel like UPN (do they still exist?).

UPN got merged with the WB and became the CW.
