The Podcast Thread - Podcasts listed by genre

Just a little note: perhaps it'd be great stating explicitly in the podcast list which podcasts have transcripts. Won't be a lot, I think.

I've started listening to HOTCAST. There's a new podcast every Thursday and each is about 25 minutes long. They don't speak too fast and their voices are very clear.

HOTCASTは、みっちーとくむの男女二人による、大人の為の生活系フリートークバラエティー。
食べ物やお酒から地域、社会、ITなど生活に密着したテーマで、”ほっと”にお届けする音声コンテンツです。

Holy cow. That has got to be the easiest podcast that has real speech that I've found yet! Thanks!

Tori-kun Wrote:what did you vocab (you did core6k, right?) deck look like? Did you use the audio for the "expression" also or only the audio for the "sentences"?
My core6k cards only had audio for the sentences - the sentence on the front and just the sentence's audio on the back. I allow for the cards "backside" (heh heh Tongue ) to appear as a review as well, so when I review those, I listen to the audio, make sure I understand it all, and write down the more difficult kanji words. This was key for bridging my listening comprehension level from beginning to intermediate.

Yep, it sure wasn't a lot. I was going through the list and recalling what had transcripts, and basically just two (the ones meant for learners of Japanese) have transcripts, so I added that information next to the links. Also, there are many podcasts that give a general outline, which can be good for getting the gist of things, but fall very, very short of anything resembling a transcript. An example of a synopsis closest to a transcript would be "Sexy 心理学” - http://portal.podcastjuice.jp/dirretriev...g_id=17535

Tori-kun, I suppose you are not a girl, I do not recommend tokyo local unless you are a girl.

Have you try LingQ podcasts? They all have transcripts and talk about the most varied subjects.

@CarolinaCG: lol, I find it funny though and two guys are also participating in the podcast, it seems... I just find one can clearly hear their voices, clearly, without any rumble/noise/music in the background, you know. Thanks for the link, will check it out, though. P.S. I will be 4 days alone at home, so perhaps you could send me your favourite podcasts (not only Tokyo Local) for my iTunes - i have to feed it for 24h x 4d Tongue

I don't know how to do that, but ok, if you tell me how to Wink

Yes, yes, I forgot. Tokyo local used to have one dude has a host too, in the 2006 tokyo local the ones I listened the most were from past november to May and these only have 3 girls talking.

anyway, I only listened to 3 or 4 podcasts, and didn't really pay attention to what they were saying (never do actually) so I can't really say I enjoyed them. I like podcasts the most when I have school, now on vacations instead of podcasts I have "Ayu Ready?" or dramas playing all day Big Grin

I felt so sad when I finished listening to the last tokyo local episode, knowing that I would never listen to yukorin again (excepting the episodes I have listened to date of couse) Sad

Btw, you can get all tokyo local episodes from Itunes Wink

Pmed you. And on top of that: aren't guys allowed to listen to beauty podcasts? Tongue What an ugly clichee~

Not because of that but because they to speak in a very girlish way, and since our brains are getting used to japanese, if you're a male, it might not be very good for you if you start speaking like a girl :p xD

this forum has pm system? what~? Were can I see them? I have no pm box. o.o

I'm sorry for the off topic

Well, what means girlish way? Usage of でしょう instead of だろう and stuff, but they would still use the same grammar. I find it indeed almost imposssible what the guys are saying at some point (slang?).

Girls, in all languages, tend to say things differently than boys. Not just the obvious stuff, either. They use different words, grammar, inflection, and just generally talk differently. Especially when talking to other girls.

As a learning resource, listening to the other sex speak amongst themselves is fraught with peril.

Which is sad, because I generally find girls' speech to be easier on my ears. Ah well. Smile

Not so much related to words, but pitch accent. I found myself speaking (unconsciously) like one of them.

Tokyo Local really went downhill in my opinion. Toward it end, it just didn't feel real anymore. It seemed to feel more and more "scripted" as it went along - which started to happen right when Manabe was replaced and got even worse when Kakki left. Then it became a typical girly show all about make up and bras, when it used to have a really interesting variety of topics that anyone could get something out of.

Just now, I happened to find some old episodes (after I had already compiled my episodes in a zipped folder to share, which I'll still include below).

I stumbled upon volume 122 while searching through google: http://www.tokyolocal.jp/blog/2008/10/vol122-1aad.html

You can go through all the episodes from there Smile Save them while you can!

I have about 52 files taken from Tokyo Local episodes (mostly ones with Manabe and Kakki) - most of them are trimmed or split versions of episodes, which made listening to these on my iPod more convenient for me, but I apologize if that's inconvenient for you. Half of these are mp3 files of just the "proactiv phone calls" by themselves. That alone may be a good reason to download my miniature stash, which you can get here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VW9XQJKD

edit: file names don't really represent the contents as much as they should. When splitting the files, I just named them based on what I heard in the beginning of each mp3.

If you want a lot of stuff to listen to I'd like to recommend TBS Radio's DIG, a news discussion programme. There's a bit under 2 hours of podcasts available each day Mon-Fri.

この番組は「全てのニュースは他人事ではない」を合言葉に、
なぜそのニュースが大事なのか、どう大事なのか...そして何より、
そのニュースがなぜ「あなたにとって」大事なのか。

Note:
- "Passion Continent" DOWN
- Nihongo Voiceblog DOWN (Seems like the audio files are not 'physically' uploaded or available any longer. At least I cannot hear nor download anything. Please, does someone have the audio files? I suppose the text one can read above the player integrated is the 'transcript' of what is being said and seems extremely nice to read for me!)
- HOTCAST available in iTunes (also available on their page)
- Love Nature available in iTunes (not on the page, it's DOWN)

have a nice day~

Wow, thanks so much, buonaparte for letting us know that you have uploading these, and of course, for all the resources you've shared with the community. Your list has really expanded since the last time I've checked! I have linked to your thread next to Nihongo Voice Blog.

Thanks for the info Torikun - all links that are down have their titles in red, which includes Passion Continent, and I have just added in that Love Nature is only available on itunes. Smile
