Most recent update: It seems the charity has won, seeing as the voting cycle ended with it in 1st
Results are confirmed at 6AM eastern time Oct 1st. Thank you all for your votes!!
(before reading: I posted about this last month, but there is another voting cycle for this month, so if you live in the U.S. (sadly, out of states votes don't count), please read below and vote)
This is pretty off-topic, but I've come (desperately) spreading information about a good cause.
Maybe you've heard of Pepsi's charity site where causes have a chance to win money. Among many of these is one for Rett Syndrome, a devastating disease that causes children to suffer till death - many die below age 10. The body attacks itself; muscles & bones go through stages of slow and rapid deterioration, organs eventually shut down. I've seen the suffering -- my sister has it.
It's vital that this charity wins because researchers are just a step away from a cure, but the government isn't helping much. If Rett takes 1st or 2nd place, $250k will be donated, & then another association will match it; totaling $500k.Sept 30th is the last voting day.
This cause has been losing for months now, and if it makes 3rd it will lose again.
3 ways to vote:
1. Facebook App (simplest way if you have a facebook)
2. Text 100842 to Pepsi (73774) - standard rate applies
3. Main Site You need to create an account, which is a short process and will not give you junk mail.
You can vote 3 ways daily until Oct 1st.
Every vote counts - the competition gets very fierce in the last stages, and a politically-backed group (which is there against the guidelines somehow) is trying its best to take away funds from cancer kids and kids with Rett.
