thanks Resolve!

excellent!
program portability is a major selling point for a flash drive geek like myself.
0.3.4's out. It includes new libraries and the Mac version has been rebuilt with a different version of python, so there might be some teething problems. Also, the default directory when adding images and sounds is inconvenient; I'll fix that in the next release.

* Image and sound support
* Scheduling change: '2' is now one step back, not the same time as last time.
* Scheduling change: halve the boost given to overdue cards
* Card spacing, delay factors etc are in more manageable time units
* Import mnemosyne categories as tags
* Try to auto-detect locale for languages other than Japanese and English.
* Prompt the user to create a deck when first starting up
* Default to mydeck, and prompt to save when creating a new deck if mydeck exists
* Add a confirmation message when exiting the 'add cards' if there is entered data.
* Make sure to update card/fact modtimes when applying/deleting tags
* Fix backup generation on win32
* Fix pending card number going below 0
* Fix a bug in syncing & upgrading
* Fix a bug in displaying status for empty deck
* Fix harmless error about unicode
* Handle unicode marker when importing
* And more!
Hey, thanks for the quick progress, but I randomly ran into an error today. Syncing wasn't working on my laptop, so I was transferring the deck via a SD card when Anki (0.3.3.2) stopped working, on both the laptop and my main desktop.

On the desktop, running Windows XP:

On the laptop, running Windows Vista:

Both refuse to start and re-installing the program doesn't fix the issue: thanks for any help.

That looks like your deck is corrupted. Make a backup of $HOME/.anki/backups before continuing, and then try a previous version from that directory. Is it possible you closed Anki while it was saving?
Edited: 2007-08-22, 10:36 pm
That is possible: I switched off one of the computers immediately after saving, but I was fairly confident that Anki had finished doing its thing prior to turning the thing off.

I have some backups of my deck: how would I make Anki auto-load that up versus the current, presumably, corrupted deck?

I just updated to 0.3.4 and as I can see the auto-generation of the reading doesn't work.
I'm on OSX 10.4.10.

Bye
I'm triying to make that answer field shows the kanji with MS Mincho and one line down the kanji with another font that shows kanji stroke order. How can I do this? Is there any other way of show kanji stroke order?

Thanks!
What's the format for doing image and sound support? I assume it's similar to html support.
LordGolem: do you have a G4-G5, or an x86 processor?

pcsl88: put html font tags in the answer format, like:

<span style="font-family: myfont">%(kanji)s</span>

Nukemarine: don't enter the tags directly, use the buttons that are provided
resolve Wrote:pcsl88: put html font tags in the answer format, like:

I did but Anki doesn't show the kanji with the font that I want, it only shows Kanji with MS Mincho.
This is what i put:"<span style="font-family:KanjiStrokeOrders;">%(Kanji)s</span>".

Thanks for your help!
resolve: one very small thing I noticed: when you hover over the add picture and sound buttons, a little explanation bubble doesn't pop up, but it does for "bold text" for example. (*^_^*)

But the audio feature looks really awesome!!

Thanks for all your hard work!!
it will wrap the (kanji) part in its own font if you define it. disable the 'custom font' in the display properties.

me too. Sad .. im running OS X 10.4.10

resolve Wrote:LordGolem: do you have a G4-G5, or an x86 processor?
i dont know about lordGolem, but i have an x86, and the autogeneration doesnt work.

thanks for the hard work! anki is really shaping up into a tool that I will use for years to come!
okay, there's a separate bug with G4/G5 processors. Looks like something else broke here. A fix should be available within a few hours, as I need to push out a bug release anyway.
Same here, x86 processor Smile

I hope this helps.

Thanks, it worked Smile .
Is there any way to do that KanjiStroke order only shows when you press a button or something like that?. I only want to see Stroker order sometimes so I no need to see everytime. How can I do?

Thanks.
pcsl88: look at the plugins page on the wiki
resolve Wrote:pcsl88: look at the plugins page on the wiki
But on the wiki there isn't any information about this. Maybe anyone who knows programming in python can do a simple plugin that do what I want. I would make it.... if i knew how to program in python.
This is not what you want?

You can't display rich text in a mouseover, so you have to display the text in the main window if you want to see the stroke order, too.
JimmySeal Wrote:rich_f - If you have Windows XP or anything recent from MS, all you need to do is select the US International Keyboard layout in Regional Settings. Do that and "a "o "u yield umlaut characters, and sharp-S is as simple as pressing Right Alt+S.
Thanks a bunch for that info. I'm still going to use my G15 on my desktop, but now I won't have to worry about doing it on my laptop.
resolve Wrote:That looks like your deck is corrupted.
Anki simply refuses to start: running it will bring up a message about the lock file and then an error message. Ergo, I can't exactly just load up a back-up deck. I apologize for not clarifying this earlier, sorry.
Great job on images and sound, Anki has officially reached the point where I could use it on a regular basis. One small problem though is that I do not seem to be able to add files with Japanese file names like "カエル.jpg".
Megaqwerty: run Anki from the command-line, passing the path to a deck. On Windows you can just drag a .anki file onto the program, on the Mac you have to mount the dmg then run '/Volumes/Anki.app/MacOS/anki /path/to/deck.anki' (or a similar path; I don't remember)

Dilandau: I'll commit a fix for that sometime today.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but when I try to add images, they still just show up as a little piece of paper with the corner folded over. I'm using the button that looks like a paint palette and the Add an image dialog, but no luck.
With error messages too, I imagine. It's not correctly combining the Japanese in your username with the name of the image. It's probably the same error dilandau reported.
