Just watched an episode of Dragon Ball Z without subtitles as part of my immersion. I got to the bit where the meme "Its over 9000!!" came from and nearly choked on my tea when I heard:
八千以上だ!
That's 8000 not 9000 what the hell!
I'm going to have to watch the rest now to see how many more power level errors they made!!

In the Brazillian Portuguese dub, it's 8000 as well.
Also, why Kame Sennin (or Master Kame, in Brazil) is called Master Roshi in the US? It's like saying "Master Sage", which sounds a little redundant and gives him no actual name, but two titles.
I guess americans are really bad at adaptations? At least their dubs sound awful.

Guess they needed to give him a name that sounded "Asian" while staying within a certain syllable range that was also easy for kids to understand and catchy as well. Damn thems!
