An argument in favor of early immersion

#1
Throughout my studies I've often found myself in the following situation:
I add a new word (from manga or Core2k+6k), try to learn it (disassemble kanji, say it a couple of times and listen to its audio) and thats when it strikes me.. "I know this word... from somewhere". Usually I can trace it to a song (recently 感情) rarely anime (like 提供) but its there in my head without me knowing what it means or even that its there. Its just something that my brain found amusing enough to "sponge" (is that a verb even?).

I've found that words like these are always easy to remember especially if I "refresh" them as soon as I learn its meaning. Guess all this early immersion does work at some point Smile

Quote:"Our ability to learn new words is directly related to how often we have been exposed to the particular combinations of the sounds which make up the words. If you want to learn Spanish, for example, frequently listening to a Spanish language radio station on the internet will dramatically boost your ability to pick up the language and learn new words."

I get this all the time, that's why I'm currently breezing through Core2K. Most of this due to words I picked up watching anime. Yay immersion Tongue
