Audio Download - Anki plugin for downloading JDIC audio

thurd Wrote:A little late but as promised here I've finally made myself write this plugin.

How this works?
Basically you add the card and then during its review you can update audio from JDIC.

Plugin works during card review and not adding new cards since I wanted to have the option of updating some of my older cards that have poor audio.

I've tested it a little bit and so far I can tell it makes adding/updating audio very easy and less time consuming.

It's my first in Anki & Python so go easy on me.

Detailed description over at:

It's licensed under WTFPL so you can do anything with it.
I would love to give this a whirl but the instructions link seems to be down. Would you mind explaining how to use this plugin to a layman like myself?

My hosting is currently experiencing problems so I'll make a more permanent page at a later date Smile

Hope everything works fine, didn't really use it for quite some time (I'm trying to dig myself out of a huge due pile so no new cards).

Thank you, works like a charm. One thing I noticed was that it wont work unless you have kanji & kana, so for words that dont have kanji you're SOL.

Another question I have is if there is a way to lift embedded audio off of a website easily . I was told you can do it by copying the text + audio button and pasting it into notepad to reveal the audio url which could simply be inputted into anki. However this doesnt seem to work for me. Any suggestions?

I started a new topic a while ago, but seemingly there were no replies and I wonder if one could re-code this plugin to download all audio automatically from JDIC.. I sometimes saved vocabulary while having internet not on, so.. there is a lot of bogus audio in between and I'd just like to have audio for all of my 4000 cards now, hehe :)

@cb: Thanks for the link to the post and the description, but however, it seems as if I cannot download from MediaFire. o.o It simply would not start!

I really loved this addon, but sadly it was not ported to Anki 2. Are there any chances this happens in the future? Would love to keep using it!

Best regards!

Bumping this. I just upgraded to Anki 2 and I would really like to see this plug-in work for Anki 2 as well...

EDIT: Just found this addon - https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/301952613 Seems to do the trick Smile
