Rikaichan: RevTK Community Edition

nest0r Wrote:Edit: Correction, it was quite a while after you commented and vanished (again ;p): http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?p...#pid133291
Yeah, I used to enjoy spending time on these forums but now I'm only interested in a small number of the threads. Great to see the site continue to grow though.

I've been browsing through this thread and there's so much great stuff being done. Awesome work. It's really frustrating that I wasn't aware of it. Also, loads of people are talking about me, my web page and my extension and I knew nothing of it! I can't believe that no one commented on my blog, contacted me on Twitter, sent me an email... nothing.

悔しい. I will attempt to visit this thread more frequently from now on.

However, I'd like to repeat my request for a webpage or blog somewhere where I can quickly see where the latest version is, the features etc. Some kind of system for being notified about updates would be nice too.

Sure. I'll also look into adding a few other startup options.

@cb4960: There seems to be the new Firefox version to be out and perhaps you could update the addon? Concerning the websites - I'd be grateful to add changes, features and requests on my blog, if you don't want to care about an own blog regularly. A "Rikai Mod" category could be added easily. Contact me, cheers.

Has anybody tried it with Firefox 5 yet?

There's a Firefox 5?? Weren't we just talking about the new Firefox 4 which took ages of gradual updates before final release?

Anyway, does Rikaisan not work with Firefox 5? Seems like it should if it matches Rikaichan 2.03, which says it's compatible up to Firefox 7 or somesuch.

ohyeah, i noticed something else...

usually you can set anki up to save after adding x amount of new cards. But with the automatic add, it doesn't register it for some reason.

...it's not a big problem, but anki crashes sometimes, and i lose all the new stuff i added.

ah, no rush or anything, it's not a big deal to just save instead, just letting you know... Smile

Not sure what kind of problem Tori-kun is having with it, but I just tried Rikaisan with Firefox 5 (Portable) and all functions worked for me. Sanseido mode, Super Sticky, Realtime Import, Save, toggle, JDIC audio, copy.

@nest0r: Seems like my update was screwed up due my interrupted internet connection, hm -.- Works like a charm with Firefox 5.0 (Confirmed)!

I have just uploaded version 12.3 of the Rikaichan: RevTK Community Edition (aka rikaisan) Firefox extension.

Download version 12.3 via Mediafire

〄 Added a Startup tab to the options dialog that includes automatic startup options for:
- Lookup bar (Thanks Tori-kun!).
- Sanseido Mode
- Sticky Mode
- Super Sticky Mode (Thanks nest0r!).

〄 When saving sentences, the sentences will no longer stop when furigana is encountered. (Thanks Ice Cream!).

〄 The save feature now honors the "Show word type indicators [example: (v1,n)]" and "Show popular indicator [example: (P)]" options. (Thanks keikei!).

〄 Fixed the up/down dictionary buttons in the Dictionary tab of the options dialog.

〄 In Super Sticky mode, alt tags in an image will no longer cause a popup when hovered over unless the image is ctrl-clicked. (Thanks nest0r!).

〄 Toggling Sanseido Mode or Super Sticky mode no longer shows an enable/disable popup. Instead, this message has been placed in the status bar.

〄 When toggling Sanseido Mode on, automatically look up the currently highlighted word. (Thanks Sebastian!).

---

I also released version 1.2 of Anki's Real-Time Import plugin.

〄 Will no longer crash when Japanese tags are used. (Thanks Ice Cream!)

The Always Enable at Startup no longer works for me. ;p

Edit: n/m It works! Weirdly it didn't work till I enabled the Lookup Bar for startup to test that out. Then I closed and started Firefox, and Rikaisan wasn't enabled, but the lookup bar was. Then I disabled the bar, re-tried the Always Enable + Super Sticky modes and it works now.

Edit: nm. Funny, I never noticed that option before.

Enable mode's dropdown in the first tab. The last option is Always Enable at Startup. It seems to work now, though.

Edit: Curses, it stopped working again. Oh well, at least I don't have to toggle Super Sticky mode every time I enable Rikaisan. Thanks, as usual. Every time you post it's like that holiday, the one where people get presents for no reason.

I went back to the baseline rikaichan 2.03 and that option doesn't work for me. Weird.

Will this rikaichan work with the new version of firefox?

As Tori-kun and I noted in the comments shortly above yours, it works with Firefox 5, and Rikaichan v2.03 supposedly works all the way up to Firefox 7.

It was working for me with your 12.2. Though now that I think about it, not sure if I tested it with Firefox 5 before upgrading.

Edit: Two things: I probably enabled Rikaisan without realizing it and thought the Always Enabled worked, a few moments earlier. And I'm also pretty sure it's not Firefox 5, I believe I've used Always Enable with Firefox 5 + 12.2 of Rikaisan. Maybe not, though. I definitely used 12.2, Firefox 4, and Always Enable, however.

The Always Enable at Startup mode does seem to work (for me) with the baseline rikaichan 2.02. Maybe something broke in 2.03.

Edit: BTW, I'm still using FF4.

Edit 2: Can you try rikaichan 2.03?

Edit 3: I tried 12.2 a few times without success.

Edit 4: Starting to debug.

I think it must be 12.3, then. Perhaps the new startup tab messes with it? If you still have FF4, perhaps you can test 12.2? I know I wasn't hallucinating, but just so you know that it worked before 12.3.

Ahha, it must be Firefox 5.

With Firefox 5 neither v2.03 nor 12.2 nor 12.3's Always Enable work. With Firefox 4, I know for sure 12.2 worked because that's a reason why I requested the Super Sticky at startup. (The constant toggling bothered me, so I tried doing Always Enable, which I used to avoid because I didn't like the automatic popups, but I figured it would remove a step and I could toggle the Super Sticky to get rid of the automatic stuff. But that was still a hassle, hence the request, so I could combine them. ;p)

Edit: Wait, you can't get 12.2's Always Enable to work with Firefox 4? Madness. I swear it worked. Oh wait, I still have Firefox 4 on my tm2! Edit 2: Oops no, that's 3.6.

Edit 3: 12.2 and 12.3 Always Enable both work with Firefox 3.6. Are you sure you're using Firefox 4? Mozilla might've snuck up on you. Their last automatic update notice for Firefox 4 was as a Security Update, but it was really an upgrade to Firefox 5 (since they stopped providing security updates for Firefox 4).

According to the about dialog, I'm currently using 4.01.

Edit: The startup code seems to have changed from 2.02 to 2.03. The 2.03 version seems to have a bug in that it's waiting for a variable to be set to 'dicready' (to indicate that the dictionaries have loaded), but the code that sets it, instead gives it a value of 'dready'.

I just tried 12.2 with a portable version of 4.01 and it wouldn't auto-enable at startup. Hmm. I swear it worked before I upgraded to FF5! I'm not crazy. Am I? ;p Maybe I was using just plain old 4.0? Wait, what version am I using to post this?? What forum is this?
