For many words Rikaisama shows more than one entry. For example, for 娘 it shows two entries: じょう - unmarried woman, and むすめ - daughter. However when I press C (copy to clipboard) or F (play sound) or S (save), Rikaisama executes this command only for the first entry, but not for the second. Is there any way I can hear/save the sound for the second entry? I'd be grateful if someone could help me with this. Thank you!

It doesn't always work, but I've had some luck trying to type out the word in Hiragana beforehand so as to eliminate the other option. You still have to cycle through the alternatives, but this works most of the time for me.

Raulsen, thank you for a quick reply. Yes, I already tried typing it in Hiragana, it does work sometimes but not always. But how to cycle through the alternatives? I still don't understand it...

I still can't make it work...
Maybe I wasn't clear enough about the problem. Let me try to explain it at a greater length. So, when I hover the mouse over, say, the word 娘 (as in my example above), the pop-up window of Rikaisama is shown, and two entries appear in this window, listed just under one another, first entry, for じょう, and second, for むすめ. Now, when I press F, the word じょう is pronounced. However, I want to hear pronunciation for the word むすめ, i.e. of the second entry in the current pop-up window. But nothing I tried to do could cause Rikaisama to play the sound for the second entry in the pop-up window (i.e. the sound for むすめ, in my example). Pressing ] or [ didn't help either. So what do I do wrong?
Raulsen, when you say that I should press ] or [ to cycle through different definitions, it sounds to me like they should appear one in place of another as I press ] or [. But in my case the two definitions appear in the Rikaisama pop-up window simultaneously, one on top of another. So I don't understand how I can "cycle" through them?

Oh, you're using the standard built-in dictionary then, aren't you? I've been using Kenkyuusha, so someone else would probably be better able to help.
2015-11-10, 4:29 pm
Yes, I'm using the standard built-in dictionary, but I don't think the audio is part of the dictionary. I think the standard dictionary here is the same as in Rikaichan, but the audio was added only in Rikaisama. Well, anyway... Raulsen, thank you for your time.
Could someone else help me with this, please? Or maybe there is no such solution, and the audio could be played for the very first entry only, and not for the rest of the entries below?
Update: I installed the Kenkyusha dictionary into Rikaisama and learned how to switch between entries by pressing ] and [. However, switching the entries doesn't seem to affect the sound. That is, the sound for the first entry is played all the time no matter which entry is currently being displayed. Is it a bug in Rikaisama?

I'm writing here in hopes that someone might be able to help me do something I've so far been unable to despite hours of frustration in trying.
I recently got a Surface Book and I'm using the tablet functionality of it as my main reading platform. I use Calibre to convert my Kindle books into .txt format and then use cb's JNovelFormatter to convert those into nice HTML files so I can read them through Firefox and make use of Rikaisama as I read. This way I get the best of both having a nice reading experience with the very light tablet, while also having the benefit of it being a full PC so I can do things like use the import function of Rikaisama to import new words directly to Anki as I read.
In theory that would be the case at least, if I could figure out how bind the double tap gesture to function as the R key on the keyboard -- the R key being my import to Anki shortcut. Is there any way to at all to customize Windows touch gestures like this? It seems like such a simple thing and yet I can't find any way to do it. There is a gesture app on the Windows Store but doesn't let me change the functionality of double tap, and what it does allow for is much too awkward to work consistently.
I know the binds in Rikaisama can be changed, but none of them seem like they'd make what I'm trying to do with a touch screen any easier. Any ideas? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Edit - After experimenting some more I figured out I could use SuperSticky mode to keep the word on screen and then bring up the virtual keyboard and use that. I hadn't really had any reason to use SuperSticky before so didn't realize it could be used for this purpose. It's not as simple as double tapping to import but it does what I want at least.

I'm having trouble setting up Anki Real Time Import, the words are added but the meaning wont show up on the card, it's just kanji on one side and hiragana on the other, and the audio wont play even though it's saved to the audio folder. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?

1) Inside Firefox, press "CTRL+SHIFT+A";
2) In the "Rikaisama" row, click "Options";
3) Click "Anki";
4) Set the "field names" according to your Anki card format;
5) Then go to "clipboard & save";
6) Set the "save format" according to what you put before into the "field names" (4) ;
Example:
- Field names: Word Reading Sentence Definition
- Save format*: $d$t$r$t$s$t$n
$d -> dictionary form (Word*)
$t -> tab (needed to separate fields)
$r -> reading (Reading*)
$t -> tab
$s -> sentence (Sentence*)
$t -> tab
$n -> definition (Definition*)
Obviously you need the same fields in the same order in your Anki note's format
Hope this will be useful to you!

I have just uploaded version 22.9 of the Rikaisama Firefox extension.
Download version 22.9 via SourceForge
What's New?
● Added separate Save Format for the Anki Real-Time Import feature. This allows you to use one format when saving to a file and another format when creating an Anki card.
Be sure to fill in the new "Rikaisama Options > Anki > Save format" field.
● EPWING feature should now work on OSX El Capitan. (Thanks Landon E.)

Thanks for all the hard work here. This helps out immensely!
Out of curiosity, is there any way to circumvent the "duplicate note" error when using separate decks? Say I have a large deck from a variety of sources and a focused deck I'm more likely to focus on for a while, but when I want to add a card to my focused deck, I can't because it's already hidden away somewhere deep in the larger deck. This isn't a huge problem for me, but I like being able to have vocab for certain purposes separated from the rest of the lot, so it'd help me a ton if I could get around this somehow.

Try this:
Open the Anki add-ons folder and edit "Real-Time_Import_for_use_with_the_Rikaisama_Firefox_Extension.py". Find the line "ALLOW_DUPLICATES = False" and change it to "ALLOW_DUPLICATES = True". Now restart Anki.

Do you see any errors in the Browser Console (Ctrl-Shift-J)?.
For reference, I've tested Rikaisama 20.5 on Firefox 35.0.1 on both Windows 7 and Linux Mint.
Hi cb I'm getting back to an older problem of audio not replaying, everything else works fine (even import with audio).
the ~rikai_audio.mp3 file is in the temp folder and is getting updated to the last words audio every time I try to play it.
I'm always getting these 2 error lines when trying to play the audio:
- decodeAudioData へ渡されたバッファにデコードできない不正なコンテンツが含まれています。 browser.xul
- TypeError: e is undefined rikaichan.js:2918:22
I am using Firefox 42.0 and Rikaisama 22.9 on Windows 7 Pro

I actually saw that on the website, but wouldn't that technically make it so I could add the same card to the same deck multiple times too? Sometimes I forget that I've already added a card to a deck, so I want to avoid making copies of the same card in the same deck if I can.

My issue is kind of similar, in that I've recently been encountering issues where I've added words a long time ago that I didn't get round to studying. Now I'm coming across them again as I've been reading a lot more, only when I go to import them to Anki it tells me it's a duplicate. I've been going into the Browser and tagging each word as it happens, then adding the sentence from the more recent context I've come across it in. This is time consuming though so I've been wishing there was an option to overwrite new/unlearned words. Not even sure if this is possible, the old note would probably have to be deleted as I don't think you can overwrite/update a 'Created' field. If it was possible to update the Created field then it'd be easy to see all the recent notes added by viewing them through the 'Added Today' option in the Browser.

@Raulsen, Roketzu:
Perhaps in the future I can modify the Real-Time Import plugin to have more options regarding creation of duplicates. Thanks for making the issue known.
@z1bbo:
In the next version I will add a better error message to Rikaisama in order to figure out the cause of the issue that you are seeing.

It already is signed, but the signing is the least of the problems: http://www.downthemall.net/the-likely-en...wnthemall/
So, yes, you'll lose Rikaisama and probably a lot of other addons. I'm not updating.

Me neither, or rather I switched to Pale Moon when I first heard that. Firefox was just trying my patience too much with the way things were going, and Pale Moon feels like classic Firefox to me, because it's based off it. Firefox is really trying to become a Chrome clone, and alienating its existing users, so after a while I just gave up on it. Rikaisama should still work in Pale Moon, so at least I don't need to worry about losing it this way.

Just to clarify in case there was any doubt, Rikaisama is signed (as stated by toshiromiballza) and should work in Firefox 43-46 and likely beyond. In the (near-ish?) future I will attempt to merge in changes found in the latest Rikaichan beta to enable proper e10s support. In the more distant future, Mozilla has threatened to make changes that are expected to make many of today's existing addons incompatible.

Are they just making changes to -how- things are done, or are they changing what -can- be done in a way that would make the rikai add-ons impossible?
Or somewhere in-between...? (I can imagine that some of the stuff rikai-sama does with the clipboard and auto-adding to anki might be denied while regular rikai-chan activity is still allowed.)
If Rikai* are broken by Mozilla, would you support forked off projects that keep the older add-on API?
