Mojibake on FNN

#1
I want to use the Fuji News Network site (http://www.fnn-news.com/) to watch and read Japanese news but (what I assume is) the caption under the main photo in the middle of the page is displaying mojibake. I think it's a problem with Flash as all the other Japanese text on the page is displaying properly. Does anyone have any idea how I can get this text to display properly?

Many thanks.

Short Answer: Click the text (link) and it will take to you a page where you can read all of it, no problem.

Long answer: Your system language isn't Japanese, and so Flash has a problem displaying you text in Shift-JIS (which it was made in) instead of UTF-8. So it "does the best it can" and shows you all the text in UTF-8, which, as you can see, is useless. Good news is that the headlines are just links to the actual stories, where they show up as actual web pages (not flash) so you can read them no problem.

I searched the Google high and low for an answer before I posted that question and can't believe it was posted here on RtK just weeks ago. Thanks for the information. I think I'll stick with TBS news for now in that case.
