I am really interested in knowing what the hardest japanese kanji is / or most strokes in a kanji is. I have heard pre-WWII kanjis were hard... or there were more kanji then foreign burrow words. The only rule I will apply to this is, [directory word or not] you must be able to write within your computer.

PS: If a thread like this already exit, I couldn't find it. I found something similar... But it was for Chinese and the characters were fake.

The hardest kanji in common use is probably 鬱 (29 strokes), which is part of the new joyo kanji set.

The kanji with largest stroke count available on my computer is 䯂 (34 strokes), but structurally it's quite simple as 馬 appears three times.

There are three kanji with 33 strokes, i.e. one less than the maximum, but two of them are more complex: 龗, 灩, 麤.

Awesome, I haven't seen any of these before. Do you have spellings and meanings? I am not sure if this is correct.

Of those kanji the only one I know is 鬱. The compound 憂鬱（ゆううつ, depression, gloom）is quite common.

The page Oniichan linked to is very interesting. The joyo kanji got updated after that page was made however, and now includes 鬱 (which has moved to Kanjikentei Level 2).
