This is GOLD. I can't help but wondering what the story behind all of this is.

Haven't seen the video before but I knew of kokujin tensai. He's a "proper" artist, at least semi-famous in Japan. His grandma or something is Japanese which is why he speaks it.

No, that's ジェロ.

黒人天才 has no Japanese blood. This is a terrible song and he's a terrible artist yet I know plenty of Japanese people (mostly girls) who like him. *sigh*

dude, why are you sighing? Just because people like him it doesn't mean you should get depressed about it. While I too don't care for the song either, it's just a bunch of people having fun, and that's what attracts other people. So who cares if (mostly) girls like him? Are you jealous? Smile

I'm sighing because it IS kind of depressing that people like terrible music artists. Smile It just brings back flashbacks of these same girls I know acting like he's the best thing ever to hit the Japanese hip hop scene. Naturally, I don't think so. Smile

Anyways to keep this semi-relevant there are tons of videos of this guy on ニコニコ動画. I guess you could call them funny in a way. There is a video of him giving "advice" to Jero. And I'll leave it at that. (-_-)

For future knowledge this isn't hiphop, it's 'club hiphop'. I think it's about time we enforce a proper labeling system. Although club hiphop sprouted from hiphop, to call them by the same name, is simply wrong.

But lol @ みぎ、ひだり、みぎ、ひだり

Never heard of anything called club hip hop. Did you just make up a genre?

Oh, we should use proper labeling. In that case, I think I'm in the mood for some space rock, so I'll throw in some Pink Floyd, or maybe Eloy. After that, since I've been getting into lately, I guess I'll listen to some rock in opposition (aka avant-prog), maybe some Frank Zappa? Then of course, no day is complete with out a little zeuhl prog, so my Magma cds are ready.

After that you know, is the good stuff. How about some psychedelic folk? In that case throw in some Comus, because First Utterance is a damn fine album. They're easily the best of psychedelic folk, unless of course you count Cerberus Shoal, but they're really post-rock emotional hardcore avant-garde psychedelic folk.

While I don't think so either, I think there's no accounting for tastes. You can look at different music styles as superior/inferior or you can just see them as different, right?

Although truthfully, I myself don't always stick to this. I have a hard time when I hear something like this (although there's much 'worse' things out there still) and then I hear something from Joanna Newsom, for example. Just seems like there's a lot more put into her music.

That said, I kind of thought this video was funny Smile and at my level of Japanese, it's always nice to come across the few things where I can actually understand stuff (or rather more stuff than I do on average, I guess). Thanks for sharing, Ta12121.

Are you serious about MASTERING 2-3 languages in just 7 years?

No it's not a made up genre it is used quite often.

And tease me all you want, but if you want to call that music hiphop, then you may as well call all the romance languages as one "Indo-European" language.

Pretty much for Japanese i'm 100% serious in mastering it. But for other languages, not sure just yet. I need to immerse myself in others and see what it has to offer first, then i'll dive into it and master those after i finish with Japanese. Cantonese and mandarin are those languages. Although for cantonese i'm not too sure just yet. But i think i should definitely learn a language for interest reasons not for anyother. Otherwise i won't take it seriously.

Even as a wrote a teasing post, I knew it wasn't made up. In fact, everything I mentioned in my post was also completely true (even the genre for Cerberus Shoal)--my point was merely that people often use words for music genres in a big way rather than a specific one (otherwise, how they hell would we call rock today by the same word that was used in the 50s?) And, well, I don't think there's anything wrong with using vague terms.

The opposite happens sometimes, like calling music 'emo,' even though bands that are and were called emo weren't really musically different from some other genres.

I would say this is more of a "southern bounce" video than "club hiphop".

Come back in 2-3 years, and let us know how you did. Until then, they're just words.

No offense intended of course, but 'mastering' a language is a whole lot different than being fluent in one. I'm still working on mastering my native language, English.
