Gobbledygook in fnn-news (OS X)

#1
I went to fnn-news for the first time, and found that some, not all, of the text gets displayed as gobbledygook. Below is a screen capture. See the text in the Flash video player:

(If the image above doesn't show here's the direct link.)

I figure there's a bad encoding setting somewhere, but if so it's strange that the encoding is not the same throughout the page, since clearly some of the text is getting encoded correctly.

I'm running this on OS X. The screenshot is from Firefox 3.6, but I get the same with Safari and Chrome.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

TIA!

The Flash was created using Shift JIS encoding instead of UTF-8 ...
There's an unfortunate problem in Flash player if your system language doesn't match the language of the embedded flash.
If it's a web-page you can just change the Text Encoding (in safari, under the "view" menu) but sadly this has no effect on the Flash embedded inside.
The only option, as far as I know, is to install a Japanese version of the plugin or change your system language.

One more reason that Flash needs to die to be replaced by HTML5.
