Learning Kanji + Hanzi (Japanese/Chinese): Which Order Best?

#1
Hello,

I'm interested in learning Chinese and Japanese, however I'm going to be using the RTK/RTH method to learn the characters first.

My question is as follows. Given that I do not have any pressing need to choose one language over the other for initial study, I wonder what is the most efficient order to learn Kanji + Hanzi. Which is the best set to begin first which would allow me to learn, most efficiently, the following set. Which ever one I learn first will probably determine the language I begin with.

Here are my options

1) Learn RTK and then do RTH (simplified).
2) Learn RTH(simpl) and then do RTK
3) Learn RTH(traditional) and then do RTK
4) Learn RTK and then do RTH(traditional)'

Which option allows for the higest recognition of the subsequent?

Although I mention traditional, I probably would be better off learning simplified as I'm more interested in mainland China than Tawian, etc. Kanji also seems to cover some of the traditional Hanzi, correct? Also, it seems difficult to recognize the differences in my eyes as I do not know the logic in the method. Is it really a good idea to learn traditional over simplied hanzi for me?

In conclusion, I want to take the option that will allow for the best learning efficiency to aquire a good foundation in Kanji and Hanzi.

Oh, and when doing RTH, is it important to learn the Chinese pronunciation along with the character due to the phonetic? And how easy is it to get an Anki deck for RTH with pronunciation if true?

Thanks
Aq

I find it easier to memorise kanji than either of the hanzi because kanji are perfectly balanced between too complicated and too simple. Also, I think there was a list on this forum showing the overlap between symplified hanzi and kanji.

Don't forget the music/movie/environment! ^__^
Play some music while studying, it goes a long way.

Thanks. If anybody else could chime in, I'd appreciate it.

Also, i can't find that comparison list. If anybody has it, please point me the way.
