Thanks for the detailed reply Nuke.
Another question that Ive been meaning to ask is about subs2srs. I got my deck working and its set up using the anki template that is provided with the program. My question is, what is the best way to use it?
Ive been thinking about setting it up like core, with a new word written in large font and then the actual sentence beside it in smaller font on the question side and the answer side will have the kanji, English meaning and audio.
Any suggestions on my method?

If you put this in your model definition:
<a id="hintlink" style="display: inline" href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('hint').style.display='inline';document.getElementById('hintlink').style.display='none';return false;">Show Hint</a><div id="hint" style="display: none"> %(Sentence)s </div>
it should display a link saying 'Show Hint', that when clicked will show the sentence (change Sentence to whatever the name of your sentence field is obviously).
What I've been doing when I come to a word where I need the context to give the right answer, is I list all the possible words I can think of, then click the hint, and if after seeing the hint I can remember the right answer, but it wasn't one of the possible answers I came up with before looking at the hint, then I mark it wrong. This is somewhat slow, but it ensures you are using the hint for context only, and not using the sentence itself as the reminder.

Hello and thank you Nukemarine, and everyone else who has contributed this great thread / forum. So a while ago I decided to jump back into RTK and use this great guide for my japanese studies. But stupid me, I just realised I have been doing regular RTK (from the hard copy book), and not in KO2K ordering like this guide says, I'm about 300+ frames in now. So I read through this thread a bit more, downloaded the RTK 1 & 3 anki deck tried to suspend / sort the cards in KO2K_01 order but can't figure it out. Can someone help?
I am an anki n00b, but not a computer n00b.

Sorry to bump this, but does anyone have any advice at all?
I have tried to get an RTK anki deck going in KO2K01 order, but I just can't figure it out.
Any help is appreciated.

with RTK, the order doesn't matter so much. That's why really common ones come at the end, and rather obscure ones can come up very early. The thing is to just get it all done and then move on to something else. So I don't think the ordering matters that much.

I'm reading the question as about the "RTK using 2001KO 1-555 Kanji" in the first post. This is not RTK in 2001KO order, but the first 555 2001KO kanji (plus necessary primitives) in RTK order. I don't know whether there's a ready-made deck available.

It should be easy enough to use the deck I posted on Anki then unsuspend the ones tagged "KO pt 1". You'll get just those in RTK order then. You can also sort by KO number and unsuspend in groups if you're doing initial reviews pseudo-randomly.
When things settle here, I'll finish up my "Using Dramas" Youtube set and start turning this thread into a youtube set. That should help a bit.

Hey Nuke,
Before I go screwing things up with your Core deck, is it possible for me to change the way the cards are displayed? For example, if I want the kanji + sentence on the question side and Kana + English on the answer side.
thx

Sorry I see that this question was asked before in the last page, but I am still having a hard time setting up the sound to go with Core 2k/6k Japanese Vocabulary - Beginner. I downloaded the sound pack you give and I made a new folder like "\Documents\Anki\Core 2k6k Japanese Vocabulary - Beginner.media" and put all the sound files in there, but when i click the button in Anki to play the sound I don't hear anything. So any idea what i am doing wrong? All the sound file names are also all just random numbers, so I don't know if the file names have anything to do with it.
Thanks

3 things I can think of right off
1. Put the media folder in the same folder as the anki deck itself (with same name).
2. Make sure the model you're using actually produces sounds.
3. Check whether the sounds files match the ones present in the deck. There are two sets of sound files. One has files with short names that begin with the letter J. It is possible they are mixed.

You should search (and post) in the "kanzen master" topics.
But you have to buy the book and send photos to someone.

I just took the JLPT N4 over the weekend and happy that I can close that chapter of my life. I learned a lot by studying for it but it wasnt the most stimulatiing material nor do I feel like my actual production is getting that much better. I want to dive back into Subs2SRS again, after viewing Nuke's youtube videos on how to set it up a few months back it seems like the next step. Has much changed since those videos? I remember he kept referring to future releases fixing some issues. Also, what card set up would you recommened to focus on production? Im fairly happy with my vocab and listening now but for the life of me cant produce it.
Thanks

Sorry I dont have an answer for your question.
My question is for Nukemarine. I recently stumbled across some of your old posts on the movie method for learning onyomi and have taken quite an interest in this method. How did you find it now looking back? Is it something worth pursuing to someone who has already well completed RTK?
Thx

dusmar,
I found it useful even in the limited way I used it. A number of people on this forum posted about how they went back after RTK and learned Onyomi in a systematic fashion, so there's nothing unique there. Honestly, it's worth pursuing learning them in some manner. A mix of context with vocabulary and movie method seems to be a good combination for those that finished RTK already.
