if you want to migrate from an existing core deck to this one (replacing and adding fields) without losing interval data you can use the overwrite fields plugin, but you will need a common field

If anyone is interested, I'm making a little C program to do mass uploads to Smart.fm.

Right now it's basically just a tool that I can use, but if anyone is interested in getting the Kore series up on smart.fm in one of these sorted orders, I'd be happy to do it.

Oh yes, you may be wondering why I would want to make a bulk uploader for smart.fm.
I would like to get some sort of Anki -> Smart.fm thing going, to be the opposite of the plugin...
I think I'd like to use smart.fm for the initial learning phase. The beta "drill" thing is pretty cool. Plus, importing into anki, you can choose the initial interval, which is excellent for things you have already "mastered"

thanks, I just checked, and there are 2 vocab items that appear in multiple lists each in the core series: 半年 is index 1400 (Core 2000: Step 7) and 4676 (Core 6000: Step 10) and 運動場 is index 3093 (Core 6000: Step 5) and 3260 (Core 6000: Step 6)

How I'm supposed to make a deck out of this anyone care to explain?

I downloaded open office, because Excel wouldn't show the characters correctly.

I used Calc (open office spreadsheet program) to open the kore.txt file. Choose 'tab' as a separator, and set encoding to UTF 8. Wording might be different because I use a polish version of open office.

Then I deleted all the columns that I didn't need.

Look at the graph cangy linked to, and decide which kanji/word progression you prefer. I decided that the default progression is fine, but if you preref a different one, you have to choose that column in Calc, and sort the list according to it (since I skipped this step I can't tell you what to do step-by-step).

Later save that txt file again, open anki and choose 'import'.
I think here's where you have to build an anki model for your cards. Anki is pretty user friendly so you'll figure it out. Decide what you want to have on your cards, with or without audio and whatnot.

I hope it helps. Perhaps you can use Excel as well but I'm not into computers and I simply didn't know how to make it show the characters correctly.

Cangy writes about different plugins. Since I haven't seen the end result yet, I can't tell if what I wrote above is enough to make it work. I downloaded the required plugins from anki website, and put them as-is in the plugins folder in anki directory.
Please correct me if you need to do anything else with them.

Since the creation of this thread both kore.txt and media packages have been updated, so go to the anki wiki page, and download both anew. Links for audio are hidden within this sentence:

"for local sound download the *vocab and *sentences or use your existing files from the smart.fm plugin "

the munged files is what you want (I don't know what it means but I think it has to do with mun mushrooms)

A trick with Excel (I'm using Office Pro 2003) is to not open the file directly, but to import it. Here's the menu tree: Data | Import External Data | Import Data...

Then select the appropriate options after that.

I have a problem with furigana. I downloaded the xxfurigana v18 plugin directly from anki, restarted it as instructed and nothing happens, the furigana vocab and sentence fields show as plain vocab and sentence.

Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue, but I hadn't really had time to investigate it yet, so I hadn't posted about it. My deck is using the template provided in the wiki link in this thread, so it's got the <!--fon--> and <!--foff--> tags in it in the appropriate places.

Has anybody figured it out yet? I'd really appreciate your help.

Sure enough, that was it. I had JP support installed on my laptop, but not on this computer. It's funny, I even noticed that xxfurigana was my only plugin and that seemed vaguely wrong. Heh.

i recently finished core 2000 on anki. now I want to try this deck but is there a way I can import my timing data to the new deck from the old deck ? Im pretty much a newb with computers... :`(

Why would you need to import any timing information? Why don't you just delete all the Core 2000 stuff from the list, and then just do the Core 6000 stuff? (ie. delete anything from 1 to 2000)

If you want one deck, you just import one into the other. I can't imagine it'd be an issue which one you imported into the other.

I got the media files but can't get them to work. Step by step anyone?

unzip both media packages directly into a folder named *.media, where * is the name of your japanese .anki file. Move *.media into anki folder where you keep your decks.

Does this remove the Core 2000 words, or are in they in there, too?

As a side note, while briefly looking through that list, I -finally- found out what ちゃんと means. lol That one has been bothering me for a while... Like, 6 months or more.

Edit: Oh, and I was going to make some Circle of Life comment about it all coming back around, but it never fully formed.

i have core 2000 up to step 5 or so, beginning in my post a little bit earlier, or check out my profile, pingu2

also, i can put the core up in any one of the orders given.

The goal I posted starts from Core 6000, (i.e excludes the Core 2000 words) and it's in 2001KO order.

It's not supposed to one-up you Asriel, I just wanted Core6k lists because I already finished Core2k .

Jeez I'm an idiot. I've been posting all the google documents basing the order off the rtklite+ko2001 order index. Sorry to anyone that already downloaded the stuff I posted.

Anyway, I redid everything basing it off the KO2001 index only. I even set up a new Anki deck so it'll take advantage of the furigana entries. Only problems I seem to have now are some of my image files are not matching up to the Core 2k 100%. Not a deal breaker, but can be a nuisance.
