Anyone Else Stay for the Community?

#1
I never really used RTK and never really used the site's SRS tool. However, I stayed because I saw a community that created or at least brought to life many resources and methods for Japanese learning. Granted, I didn't use much of that either.

I just thought I saw something rare in forums. While we sometimes have flamewars, nest0r's trolling, and all of that jazz, I just find it charming how cooperative and driven the users are here. Longterm users are so for a reason other than to wave around their seniority.

Anyway, I just thought I'd bring those who didn't necessarily use RTK out of the closet, so that we can lay to rest the idea that we're all Heisig fanatics.

I used RTK but it was after finishing it that this forum really gave me good ideas and a sense of direction. Continues to do so and acts as a great sounding board to my own gimmicky *cough* ideas.

The community's why I'm here, too, Smackle. Smile

And I've already come out as a non-RTKer. Did so in my first post. XD

I finished RTK 2~3 years ago and don't come here for methods or to ask questions either. I mostly use the forum for procrastination, as an excuse to do research (to give proof for answers I give to questions) and to get resources like the ones Nest0r never posted.

Some of us come here just for that, ya'know.

Joking aside though, I don't do RtK or the site's SRS. I was reading about the RtK book and was reading a negative review on it, and linked to this site for proof that people here are not being honest. I found that post very well written with pros-cons, and began reading through the other forums and learned about SRS here!

I've been trolling/posting ever since.

I figured since this forum only gets a one out of five star rating, I can't hurt it too much. Cool
I did RTK a couple years ago, but stay to leach scoops on new learning website discoveries off computer nerds. :/

I came originally for the RTK studying, but this forum has by FAR been the best source of info for new methods and ideas. I mean like 100x better than any other forum I've found.

So yeah, I stay for the community.

I just finished RTK1 but I intend to stay for the community. I wasn't posting while studying RTK1 because it would've seemed like blatant procrastination, which I do too much as it is.

Yeah, this the best forum for new resources, study methods, motivation. Most of the people who post here are really learning Japanese, some with an extraordinary dedication.

I feel like true to the Japanese way we have quite a group mentality here too. Posts by the community, for the community. (sounds like the kanji police)

I'm here for the community too. It's my favorite out of the forums I visit.
I didn't quite finish RTK, but I'm always switching methods.
