Analog tv is gone in Japan in 2011. End of Keyhole tv and the like?

Hope not, as I get lots of exposure from Japanese tv.

It may be digital, but it still doesn't plug up the analogue hole.

In case you've failed to notice, keyhole is nothing but some webcam pointed at a TV. They can't stop you from doing that unless they install lasers in the TVs.

*lighblub* Now if you excuse me, I have to make a trip to the patent office.

...keyhole is not a webcam pointed at a tv.

Keyhole TV is an official legal program run by the Japanese government.

If the change to digital breaks it, I'd imagine they will just commission a new version.

Exactly. Keyhole TV is official, any change made will be reflected in it. Why would the government make it just to show the last of analog TV online? Personally, I think it will be the other way around, maybe Keyhole TV will become fully digital and we may get way better quality in it.

I'm pretty sure they're using tuner cards to capture the signal and there are digital TV tuner cards.

No, judging from the quality, Keyhole TV is really a low resolution webcam pointed at a tv in the neighbors' house across the street. I also suspect they use two cans and a string for capturing the sound.

I can attest to this, I was the one who tripped over the string last week. Sorry about that.

So probably aberu messed up by this also my KeyHole tv access last week.

I have a new computer since last week and installed KeyHoleTV 3.14 but now I can’t watch KeyHole TV anymore.

No matter how often I try it just shows “Login timed out. Check your Network”.

The network is OK, but I guess there are changed Security Settings which make it impossible to watch it. Strangely enough I did not notice any changes at all in the access of other internet sites.

Has anyone an idea what setting (internetoptions) I should try to change. Thanks for any advice.

Of course it's not. That was a figure of speech. Then again, I guess it's my fault for using that kind of joke when I'm not on /.

I'm surprised that people fail to figure out that if a digital decoder can convert the signal in a way that non-digital TVs can use it, then they should be able to record the signal in the same way as before.

@Matthias
You may want to look at your firewall settings. If keyhole works by disabling your firewall, then you've probably blocked it by mistake. Windows comes with pre-installed firewall, so don't forget
I can't tell you how to configure your firewall, since every vendor is different, but you will want to add an exception rule for all UDP connections to 122.216.70.34. Check your documentation.

If that doesn't work, go grab and install Wireshark, and to the following:
- type the text ip.addr eq 122.216.70.34 in the filter field, click apply
- choose Capture->Go from the menu
- try to connect with keyhole as normally
- from the Wireshark menu again, select Capture->Stop
- select File->Save as
- make sure you check the "displayed" radio button and save the file somewhere
- from the Windows start menu, click "Run", type tracert 122.216.70.34 > %USERPROFILE%\desktop\tracert.log (this will create a file called tracert.log on your desktop).
Then PM me with both files.

Suits me just fine, since I don't watch it. Regardless, thanks for the link - it seems worth checking out.

which version of flash do you have? I could never get the high quality streams to work on freshverse on Mac OSX or Linux?

I even tried the recommended versions.

Wow, the high quality stream (mirror) is so much better than KeyholeTV!
Compared to KeyholeTV's screen it almost looks like a movie or something. Smile

@chamcham & captal
I downloaded it from this thread and it worked.
I'm using Vista though.
