Dope Japanese Hip-Hop

I'll echo the reccommendation for Drunken Tiger. My favourite DT track is 편의점 (
)
Omg! Tasha! I had such the biggest crush on her back in the day (read: yesterday).

Nice lineup, percy.

And, again, I'd like to thank KREVA and ryujin (?) for uploading hosts of good music.

KREVA Wrote:I linked this site on the blog as well. I has a plethora of Japanese Hip-Hop lyrics. A lot of what is uploaded on the blog can be found here. http://lyricz.info/
That is how you reinvigorate my drive to learn Japanese in one post.

I can now go through Shougen with Rikaikun.

If anyone here knows the song "Forever" with Drake, Kanye, Wayne, and Eminem, I'm 100% positive you will love this: (Note I hate everyone in that song beside Em, but this is still dope)

He does a great job of imitating the flow of all 4 artists, while making the lyrics infinitely better (besides Em, who rips his verse in the original).

This is kind of off topic but does anyone know any good j R&B singers? I've come across all the usual suspects through j-hip hop (Crystal Kay, Pushim, Tigarah, etc) but I was wondering if I am missing any good singers.

'Dope', haha, am I the only person who laughs in an embarrassed-for-you kind of way every time I see that word used as a positive descriptor? Guess I'm not cool. Sad

@sokino: I don't listen to too many Japanese R&B singers, mainly because most of them are females, sound often quite similar, and lean far too much into the Pop category, but there are a few R&B singers I enjoy.

1. KG is pretty good. I came across him from the group "NATURAL 8" which is a group that consisted of a combination of R&B singers and Rappers (now broken off into MAY'S, KG, SHIKATA, and CLIFF EDGE). They have a soulful sound, but most of their music has more of a ballad-esque feel to it. KG's voice kinda reminds me of Keith Sweat. haha

KG 「With You〜君といつまでも〜feat.MAY'S」

KG「きっと、 ずっと duet with MAY'S」

2. JAY'ED is like the Ne-Yo in Japan. He has a soothing voice and has good pronunciation of English (which to me overall makes a big difference in the quality of the song as many Japanese singers fail with pronunciation of English parts in their songs. I think JAY'ED grew up in New Zealand, so that explains why his English is great.)

JAY'ED「最後の優しさ」

JAY'ED「Superwoman」

3. NAO is my favorite R&B singer so far. I found him last year when his first album dropped and now you can find him on L-VOKAL's latest album LOVIN'. He has both vocal and piano talent like Alicia Keys or John Legend. He only has one album out, but that album was so fantastic that I'm highly anticipating his next release whenever that is. Very passionate and moving melodies.

NAO「Paper Moon」

NAO「One Way Feat. Micro」

NAO「ここで待とう」

Don't know if anybody mentioned Haiiro de Rossi:

I must say that my 2,5 months of listening mostly to J-hip hop has made a difference. Before, I listened to band Envy and I couldn´t make out any of the words they were screaming, but after these 2,5 months I listen to the same band again and now I think I can make out the words considerably better, even though I still don´t understand most of the stuff.

I've been dreaming I was a J-rapper quite a bit lately, and apparently "spitting verse" in japanese in my sleep. Would like to get someone to record me, lol, but I'm usually here by myself.

Yeah I linked this on page 3 or so, might like it: Eccy ft. Haiiro de Rossi -
- It is rather dope, I dare say, and the spitting of somewhat ill lyrics is quite enjoyable.

I only like some of HdR's songs on True Blues, though.

Since I listen to j-rap every day, one of the most natural things for me was to start rapping in japanese with my friend, taking turns, during a party when the dj put a beat onBig Grin. I wouldn´t have thaught I can handle it even a bit. I can´t say my lyrics made senseBig Grin but at least I tried and had fun.

I was going to get this off of Amazon.jp, but decided to omit it form my list since I was worried about the weight of my order and the outrageous shipping charges it could bring. Anyways, it's saved on my wishlist for my next purchase. Is the full version available on the internet? The one you are referring to is a 2-disc set. I found one of the discs online, but not the other, so that's why I wanted to get it off Amazon (as the physical copy is roughly a third of the price as the one on iTunes).

I've searched, but never been able to find it. All I know is that the iTunes preview was insane.

I see. Both discs were originally released separately as 悪名 and 続・悪名, so maybe that's why I was able to find one of them and not the other on the internet. If that's the case, the full compilation has yet to be shared or is just very hard to find. Nevertheless, I'll make sure to get the 2-disc compilation on my next amazon purchase so it'll be on the blog some time in the near future.

Damn, three great artists on one track...
3:38 is just so adorable when Anarchy and Kreva nod their heads at the same time.
