Dope Japanese Hip-Hop

Here's a song I like, it's a remix of Little (whose work I don't seem to like much), featuring Skipp (prev. mentioned as being in Indemoral/Sohmatoh):

Edit: There's nothing special about the random string of numbers and letters in this snipped URL: http://snipurl.com/r8lc1fyp <--Definitely don't think of site URLs that resemble the words 'Sega Pup Toad' here.

Wow, thanks all for the great links. I love turntablism/beats/hip hop and have spent a lot of time trying to dig up underground artists with relatively little luck. This thread is a GOLDMINE of seeds.

Is DJ Krush too mainstream to recommend? He does a lot more instrumental stuff but he has some really sweet beats. (Sorry if he was already recommended, haven't read the entirety of this thread in detail).

I'm also slightly afraid that I may have come to like something that is totally played out radio music, but I'm not that aware of the pop scene, so here are some recommendations, hopefully not too laaaaaaaaaame:

Tha Blue Herb (kind of grim beat):

DJ Krush (one of my all-time favorite japanese hip hop tracks, anyone have lyrics?):

Is anyone in Japan right now? Know any good hip hop stores? I know a pretty solid one in 水戸市 (~1 hr north of Tokyo).

Nujabes owns T Records and Guiness Records in Shibuya. Those stores are probably pretty good.

Anybody hear SEEDA off of LV's latest album yet? He may have changed his flow again; he seems more playful with his pronunciation than ever before. Anyway, you can listen here: http://tinyurl.com/ydr79qx

Also, SEEDA has another album coming next month, no title yet though.

I have a Soul Scream track on my iPod Touch (I can't read the name) from the album THE "DEEP" that has built-in lyrics. I got it from Miyomi's Music blog.

Thatkidpercy: "GAGLE - Big Bang Theory

finally some j-hip-hop that fits my taste exactly. This is probably the first track I've found that actually sounds just like the stuff I listen to in English.

Thank god for this thread...I had truly given up on finding J-hiphop I could listen to, and resigned myself to podcasts for the next eighteen musicless months. This thread is truly, truly a goldmine of incredible artists, albums, tracks and videos. I mean, yeah, who doesn't like the DJ Krush tracks where he raps in Japanese, or stuff like Midicronica, but I wore all that out years ago when I was really into anime and shiz. And popping on Soulseek found a LOT of it

Anyone know if there is a place to "obtain" L-Vokal's new album (Lovin')?

I'm not asking to direct me there, I'm asking if anyone knows if it is possible to find (then I might ask where).

Thanks to the ease-of-use myth regarding Mac OS, the MacBook became the de facto hardware of choice for DJs who use Serato Scratch Live (mix and scratch MP3s using actual vinyl).

So I tried to find a link to a download or video but couldn't turn one up. I got the album off soulseek, but anyway you need to check out:
DJ ISSO PRESENTS SD JUNKSTA/ LOST SHIT [再プレス]

Specifically the track
8. "N.U" / BRON-K,KYN

He is just muthafucking going off on that track. I'm gonna have to find more tracks with these artists, because Bron-k can spit.

Cool!

I'm a HUGE hip hop head so its great to see other hip hop fans in Japanese.

My favorite song so far is Soul Scream's "黒い月の夜"

The Pete Rock style beat and smooth lyrics remind me of Black Moon's "I Gotcha Opin Remix"....great great track.

Can anyone translate the bridge/chorus: it sounds like "kuroi, kuroi, mak-kuroi..."

Thanks again
