That new Dinary Delta Force is just fire, man. Had that album in constant rotation all this week.

Dinary Delta Force's new album has been in rotation on my phone for about a week now and I have a love/hate relationship with it. Compared to the quality of their first work, which I consider a modern classic in Japanese Hip-Hop, the newer album just can't keep up beat-wise. Along with that, the arrangement of the tracks are a mess compared to the unity of Soundtrack to the Bedtown. The album lost me after the first 3 tracks as far as consistency and quality. To be fair, I noticed improvements in some of the members raps, especially Rhyme Boya (boyish voice). There were some tracks on this album I thought were worthy, but then there are some that seemed beneath them. This is just where I sit with the album so far with about 10 listens so far.

That Rhyme Boya's solo album Mind Vook is really good btw.

There are a few beats on there that sounds like Rza stuff from 97.

Been listening to the Delcatek One Time For n B.D. Illson, great albums.

@KREVA - I hear where you are coming from. Its nowhere near Bedtown for sure (I think Bedtown is a classic also). At the same time, I look at the 9 album as a way to venturing a bit from the Bedtown sound. I still like this album, not in constant rotation nowadays but I still play it from time to time. Irene pt 2 is incredible. My only complaint for this album is there are few standout tracks in comparision to Bedtown. The 9 I can listen to beginning to end with no problem, but its tough listening to tracks individually (if that makes any sense). While with Bedtown, the tracks standout in album format and individually.

That being said, the best 2013 release Ive heard this year thus far is the Killah Been album. senninshou's "Be in One's Element" is a close second (gradis nice n 16flip are amazing producers), just couldnt get with singing in that "Think About" track.

@ Realism: Yeah, I liked that album. I think i uploaded one of the tracks from that album on my youtube channel.

@kurohachi: Irene pt.2 is a good track. Chorus for Stay Real Lives sounds Bedtown esque to me for some reason. Side A不朽の金剛石 has cool samples and message.

Delcatek was a gem I found on iTunes couple years back. Glad to hear some people like it and it's not just me!

@KREVA - Yea, man. I got both the Delcatek and B.D. albums off your blog. You have a lot of gems on there for sure. Big ups to you for that. I would like to contribute on there, but a lot of the stuff I have is either on there or Ongaku Eternal already. Still other albums I'm looking to get, will probably end up buying 'em:

Sadly I haven't been able to update the blog in a while as I've been pretty busy with life at the moment, but I'll get back into a groove of uploading stuff intermittently. Ryuujin27 uploaded the Osumi album and I might still have it but if not, I'll ask him about it if he doesn't frequent this site anymore. As for Kierumakyuu's Peep Show, I've had that album for a while now and planned on uploading it to the blog when Maki the Magic passed months ago, but ultimately forgot. haha

Ughh, that Deltateck album is ok.

Some dope songs but you get the feeling that they were trying way too hard to sound like it's still 1993.

Does hip-hop help in learning Japanese? As far as I know they words are either said very fast or elongated. What's the deal?

They don't rap fast, they rap slower than normal talking speed.

Of course sometimes if the beat is fast then they'll rap fast to the beat.

Damn that's too bad man. I really enjoyed that album. They're definitely not the best rappers (they seem young) but I enjoyed the production. I listen to K.E.M.U.R.I and fountain mountain on the regular.

It's not their rapping skills, it's the songs themselves, like they're just waaay out there.

The song Pool, like wtf is that?? The beat is like...not even there.

Rowshi's new album is amazing. All the beats on here are extremely well-done new-age Hip-Hop. If you told me The Neptunes produced this entire album I would have believed you, that's how good the beats are. Not a big fan of the rapper but he sounds great over these beats.

I'd personally be interested in knowing about any Japanese rappers that rap really fast, a lot faster than a native might speak. Maybe even ones who can rap at the speed of a auctioneer amid a bidding war, but in Japanese of course.

Thank you for the recommendations. I listened to a couple of their songs. I like them. I'm always a little surprised and amused by how similar the videos and sound I see and hear of Japanese rap and pop mirror their American/British counterparts.

Like for MC Kan and Killah Been, smoking cigarettes in a dimly lit room or rapping close to the camera in a hallway, and for the pop music I was listening to an 80s song by a singer named Hiro Takahashi and it reminded me a bit like "Wham!"

There probably isn't any. Most Japanese rap is slower than normal speech. Kan can rap pretty fast but only once in a while. Killah Been just raps normal like anyone else, although he probably is the best Japanese rapper at the moment.

The only one I can think of is the second rapper in this song:

Oh, Daichi (大地) is the one who raps fast, he has one of the best flows. He's the only one I can think of that consistently do it.

キリコ (Kiriko) seems to be the one you want, he's quite unorthodox and raps pretty fast.

Well a lot of "Japanese" hip-hop producers are actually American, so that pretty much explains it.

If you want a distinct sound you want Michita, Nujabes, DJ Baku, Kenichiro Nishihara etc...
