Dope Japanese Hip-Hop

Realism>
As for what Japanese people think abut Japanese hip-hop, honestly, I don't think a lot of people know much about it at all/are aware that it exists (especially the artists mentioned in this thread - I consider myself very knowledgeable about the J-pop/hip-hop music scene, and even I don't know a lot of the artists brought up in this thread). It's not common to see hip-hop artists on music shows, etc, aside from a small handful. So I think that a lot of people really don't have an opinion either way, since they don't know much about it to begin with. I would say, like you mentioned, that it's a fairly small sub-culture. So far from the all the Japanese Hip-Hop I've heard

Primal is the best. He can rhyme period, on any type of track.

It's funny how Kan has an album cover ripping off of Nas' Illmatic when Primal is really the Nas of the group.

Oni is awesome as well. Guy can flow.

DJ Ando is secretly a beast. See if you guys can find the two mixtapes he put out, "Mix Tape Jam" and "Mix Tape Jam Pt. 2."

DJ Kensei is also sick. Here's a mixtape he put out.

I have this mixtape. It's likely from the same source as the user who uploaded it on YouTube, though I have both A and B sides. It's not of the best audio quality, but fortunately 95% of the songs could be pieced together from the albums/EPs that are available on the blog. The user on YouTube just put together a collage of tracks that are exclusive to the tape, I believe.

I was just listening to one of my Youtube playlists (hip-hop samples, funk, soul, etc. if you're interested: http://goo.gl/yTv5v ) when I noticed a very familiar sound in Hook and Sling by Eddie Bo... The sax from Amemuran Dream, on the album 24 Hour Karate School Japan, by Ski Beatz (featuring a ton of Japanese rappers from this thread).

Does anybody know what happened to lyricz.info?

lyricz.info got nuked by the copyright holders. Archive from 2008: http://web.archive.org/web/2008050905443...ricz.info/

Oldish, but better than nothing. Crawl it while you can.

Just like vgambit, I've been wondering the same for a little over a year now. Thank you very much for this link. Finally, there is access, again, to a pleasant collection of Japanese hip-hop lyrics. Smile

Loving the dark sound. I've been trying to work out the the verse lyrics and made some progress. Nevertheless, some parts are just too hard for me to make out what they're saying so I could use a helping hand.

You think I'm that good ? Well, thanks. Smile Actually I've been thinking something similar to this for long a time. It could be a website of its own or a simple blog. On the condition that we can get more (experienced) people behind the idea I would be happy to give my contribution to the effort. 一緒に全インターネットの一番日本語ヒップホップ歌詞データベースを作りましょう!

FUKK 3rd verse

4th verse

A great freestyle delivered by ISH-ONE, KOJOE, FUKK and 道. KOJOE was the weakest one relying too much on マジで and dull English catch phrases but his 2nd verse's opening line "KOJOEの登場" was clever. Help me fill out the missing parts !

My crack at the ones with question marks.

(Don't Stop?)
