I was lucky enough to go to a Japanese curry restaurant and they had this video
of this tiny 95-pound girl (Gal Sone) eating 47 full plates of food.

Turns out competitive eating is real popular in Japan and women seem
to be in the spotlight. So far, Natsuko "Gal" Sone and Tomoko Miyake seem to be
popular.

It's unbelievable how much food these girls can eat, and they're so tiny.

I think she appeared on Downtown no Gaki no tsukai ya arahende!! and managed to eat about twice as fast as seven cast members together.

7 kilos of food in total.. not bad.

This was extremely popular when I lived in Japan in 2007 but you don't see it much lately.

I remember on some show where sanma called her ugly. at the time i had no idea why she's on the tv show (the shows with a bunch of geinoujin gathered and they talk) as in what she's famous for. they have musicians or gravure model or actor or conbi etc so..

and then i got to this vid one day

dokkiri!! it's pretty fun to watch. I was like OH that's what she's known for.

She went on cartoon kat-tun too.....

I don't want to be mean, but Gyaru Son is kind of scary looking to me...

Hahaha don't you love the internets. I was looking into that a few months ago, when I came accross the name of Sonya Thomas, also a female competitive eating champion. I was amazed that she was so thin. Then I read more about it and was a bit surprised to find out that not all competitiors vomit after a contest. Somehow the body gets rid of the excess. I don't know what kind of dump they take after that but .. clearly they are not ingesting all these extra calories or Sonya Thomas would look like a hot air balloon.

I suppose it's nice to see women stuffing their faces from time to time. Honestly, the dieting and pressure of weight management that has become normal for teenage girls in Japan is simply silly and stupid.

I kind of doubt that. I know modern Japanese toilets have all those ridiculously advanced functions, but still they do get clogged.

I doubt it too. Bear in mind the top competitors are eating 15-20Ibs of food in one go; I don't think the body can seriously digest that amount.

Are those irises fake btw? Surely she wears contacts..weird..

You'd be surprised. Feast/fast behavior is extremely common among top-tier predators, and it might actually be healthier for humans than consistent but slight over-eating.

I think that has a lot to do with it. It's not as noticeable in the picture--maybe she fixed them--but I saw her on TV and her eyebrows were weirdly shaped. Almost pointy, even.

I remember this one show I watched in particular that really gave me insight into the importance of being almost rail-thin in Japan. There was a girl who was a perfectly healthy size--maybe size 4 maximum--and I think every guy but one told her something to the affect of 痩せたほうがいい. She had some slight baby-fat, but nothing unsightly or what I would think would be unappealing. It wasn't until she lost 10-20 pounds that she was essentially an acceptable human being. And to be honest, I don't think she looked any different.

IceCream: From what I've heard, yes they do. Even the normal looking ones. Then again I wear medium size shirts here in Australia but end up buying XL ones in Japan.

I know a gorgeous thin American girl who lives in the Kansai area. She teaches at elementary schools, and students call her fat fairly regularly.

That does not apply solely to women though. In Japan, for the first time in my entire life after being considered underweight by European standards, I was suddenly "well-built".
