I finished RTK1 a month ago. I like SRS. What should I do next to get me closer to my goal of understanding/reading Japanese?

- Most of my knowledge is vocabulary I picked up from anime...
- I'm on a Japanese course on my uni (currently going through Minna no Nihongo II). It's nice not having to spend time on learning new kanji for classes But I'm not sure if this course helps me much. (Btw, it's quite annoying that the book has furigana everywhere).
- Should I do RTK2? Or concentrate on vocabulary/some other source. (What to stick into Anki now?)
- Currently most cards from RTK1 are on four/five reviews, 50-60 expires daily, 85%-95% rate. Is it useful to continue reviewing or should I concentrate entirely on something new?
- RTK3 probably wouldn't be very useful right now?

Continue reviewing and work through something like KO2001 to get a start on vocab. Generally gets you to a level where working with native materials is a lot easier and more possible, definitely more enjoyable. I've also worked through Kanzen Master 2級 which tbh has been pretty useful given things i've learned do pop up here and there.

Just looking at a few records i've been keeping with Anki, this month I learned just under 900 new vocab on cruise mode (from native enjoyable stuff) and only 1/5 of that was picked out by ear listening to stuff like Anime and Dorama. The rest all came from reading games, news, websites. So reading definitely has given me far faster access to learning vocab.

And I'd definitely reccomend reviewing for a while, until your daily reviews really drop off. Most people here would agree, I think.

Minna no Nihongo II is an excellent text. I just finished volume I and started II. I have been putting example sentences into Anki, not too much, just enough to repeat each particular grammar pattern.

I did Core 2000 + worked through all the grammar up to JLPT1 quickly, now working through the rest of Core 6000.
