'festival of abusive language' at saishoji temple

悪口祭り: http://www.japanprobe.com/2010/01/08/fes...-language/

"In this city about 50 miles north of Tokyo, people take this one occasion to let it all hang out and say what they really think about the year gone by. In one of the strangest festivals in a country full of festivals, they walk up a dark mountain road to a temple screaming curses into the starry night sky that they would never say directly to their fellow man... "

バカヤロー? Yawn. Even still, bet all those people were fired/expelled after that TV show aired. ;p

Here's more info on the akutai thing: http://books.google.com/books?id=hiQVAAA...ri&f=false

My neighbour seems to hold this festival every other day. Either that or he really needs to cancel his XBox live subscription.

If he was a trendy young American male, I'd suggest he was filming one of those annoying Gamestop commercials (or whatever company does them).

hehe -- Hey QS, can you explain why that show had 悪態 spelled as 悪口 but pronounced like the former? I'm assuming it's just poetic license? There's equal hits on Google for 悪*祭り.

Edit: Or I guess it could be that the person doing the onscreen text chose one way and the announcer had another...

Edit 2: Yeah, that seems to be the case. If it's 悪口祭り it should be pronounced あっこう.
