I have the RTK flashcards (picked them up in Tokyo for 8700 yen), and there's a discrepancy between the cards and the font I see on screen when I view this website. Cards 451-454 contain what Heisig calls "siesta" (I call it Madonna, because it looks to me like Madonna cradling her child), but the primitive is different on cards 451 & 452 vs. 453 & 454.

The first two look like what this website shows. The latter two have an extra stroke in the center of the bottom half of the primitive. I'm just wondering if this is because the character can be written either way or if there's an error somewhere here.

As an aside, I love the cards and highly recommend them. I also have Heisig's flashcard program for the Treo, and I almost never use it. I'd rather carry the cards and flip through them. Much more satisfying.

Thanks.

Could you describe the difference in a little more detail? Saying there's an extra stroke doesn't really tell us much.

It's possible to write the characters either way, but in nos. 453 & 454 褐 & 喝 is standard.

The versions on those two cards are variants (itaiji, 異体字). I tried writing the variant forms in this browser, but it doesn't work. Also they don't seem to be available in some fonts.

Thank you, Katsuo. I thought it might be something like that.

JimmySeal, sorry, I know I should have described it better, but words failed me, and I couldn't get it to appear on my screen.

Thanks again.
