Me too! 2kyuu - 264/400

Vocab was my lowest score ... which I find surprising. I thought I got totally owned by the listening...

No pass for me but I wasn't expecting too 2級198/400. Time for me to blame the test makers and avoid responsibility now.

whoa. looks like some people got theirs early.

I'm in southern Cali, I haven't gotten mine back yet. Anyone in a similar position, don't panic - this is normal.

Not sure if I like Ibaraki getting their results before Shizuoka though...差別だ。

I left my numbers at home, but I passed level 4 by the skin of my teeth with 64%.

Technically I had been studying Japanese for 5 months, but about about 3.5 of those were exclusively Heisig, so I`ll take it!

Congrats everyone who passed and props for showing your commitment to learning the language for those who did not!

The people who took the test in Japan get their scores earlier than the States. A couple years ago I got mine like a week after my friends in Japan got theirs... last year it was a few weeks later. So if you took the test outside of Japan, hang in there... they're coming soon!

Failed 2級, slightly better than 50%. On the other hand, I didn't study at all. Having spent most of my time studying RTK, I wasn't prepared for the kanji-readings section and didn't know enough vocabulary to guess the readings. I'm at 1756 in RTK 1 now so after that it's time to focus on vocab and reading.

I took my level 2 here in Japan. For some reason I haven't gotten the results back yet, but i'm still in pain from that brutal rapage. the listening portion was incredibly difficult.

Postcard was in the letter box when I arrived home. Nothing spectacular but scores were:

My listening score actually dropped from the previous year so that's proof for me that the JLPT isn't the be all and end all of Japanese competence.

The fact that I didn't own the test is just motivating me to try harder for １級 in December...just gonna have a few more games of Call of Duty 4 first though

Boo, I didn't pass 3rd kyu. I got 56%.

It wasn't really a surprise but I was just hoping to sneak a pass...

The big question is, do I know go for 2nd kyu next year or not? I don't really fancy spending a whole year on trying to get a perfect 3rd kyu score when I could push on further into the language.

Has anyone here failed 3rd kyu and passed 2nd kyu the following year? (Awe inspiring success stories only please - I don't want to hear the miserable truth.)

charchy I didn't repeat ３級 but I did take ２級 again but only added about 30 points to my score last year

So even if I'd gone for １級 and failed I reckon I would have probably learned more Japanese.

With that in mind, I'd suggest not to worry so much about passing and failing but, as you yourself seem interested in, just pushing on with your Japanese studies and have a look at the ２級 syllabus.

This year! But I assume that's what you were getting at

To be honest though I'm going through the Kanzen Master JLPT2 grammar book again just now. Recreating a file to fire onto my SRS (wasn't too happy with my first one). Trying to spend a while reading online newspapers and have another spreadsheet where I'm saving vocab; phrases; and sentences that take my fancy.

Not going to be cracking my JLPT1 books for another month or two. But the aim is to pass this year...

They told me the Mexico results will be in until early March, so I'll just have to keep on waiting. Still not sure if I'll try 3-kyu this year though.

I can't remember my scores exactly. I know I got a 64/200 on the reading (took 2 kyuu). Like most I didn't study and focused on RTK so I wasn't exactly surprised at the results (if anything I did better then I thought I would!). I figure if I start now I can pass 2 kyuu, or maybe even 1 kyuu next December.

I passed LVL2 last year and took LVL1 this year. These are my results:

Writing/Vocab: 83/100
Listening: 90/100
Reading/Grammar: 146/200

324/400 (81%)

Gratz to all the people who passed the test and good luck to the ones who will be taking the test again (at the same or higher level)! I'm done with JLPT now. Are the other people who passed LVL1 thinking about taking other tests? I'm planning to challenge my Kanji knowledge on Kanken LVL2 this year in June.

Congratulations to all that took the JLPT regardless of the results. I plan on taking it this year without actively studying for it (more of a self test to see the effectiveness of AJATT and RTK). Passing a JLPT 2 and a DoD DLAB can hold some serious weight in getting additional credit at a California college system.

In my opinion that's probably a waste of money. The only reason to PAY to take JLPT is to get the certificate itself. If you just want to evaluate your level etc just use a previous year's test for free. You also get the benefit of being able to take it when and where you want it instead of one specific day in December in a location that is possibly inconvenient.
