2009 summary:
-It was a decent year I guess. Come Jan. of 2009, I didn't know what a kanji was, and I had a shaky grasp of kana. Come Jan. 1 2010, I have completed RtK, and started moving forward with other study tools. I'm still a complete beginner in Japanese though
-I received my 2 yr. Associate Degree, and got accepted to a 4 yr. school to pursue a Bachelor's in Computer Science, which I'm excited about. It also puts me that much closer to being able to apply for JET
2010 goals:
-I'd like to have a better grasp of Japanese. As of now, I know pretty much no vocab, grammar, or anything. Total beginner. I'd like to be able to read/hear/watch VERY basic things and be able to understand/enjoy them for what they are.
-Finish KO2001 and check out Core2000 series. KO2001 is in the mail, and I've checked out Core2000 which looked interesting.
-be able to play through my copy of Final Fantasy 13 by the end of the year, and maybe understand more than 5% of it
-Become more familiar with the tools of the trade. There's so many programs and learning methods and things that this forum points to and mentions. It's like an information overload for me. I'd like to get to the point where I understand what people mean when they say "go do this" and "then mix it with that", etc.
-Kinda goes with the above, but, learn how to use Anki effectively. And ultimately, get to the point where I know enough about the tools of the trade, to where I can develop my own study habits and preferences.
