I am around Frame 600 and love to watch japanese drama.

I started with the ANKI subs2srs.

did anyone start with the subs2srs before getting through the RTK1?
was it just a waste of time?

It's not a waste of time, but it's ineffective when you put kanji you don't know in your sentences. As long as you stick to the kanji you've already "RtKed" you should be fine.
