I'm always getting these two kanji mixed up: 優 (kindness)　徳 (benevolence). The main reason is that to me, the English keywords are almost identical.

Any one have a good way to keep these separated?

Perhaps change the second one to "virtue" or "morality"? That's a lot closer to the way the character is actually used than "benevolence", although you would have to check to make sure those keywords aren't already used by other kanji.

It's a trick, but I use "Benevolence" to activate "Benevolent Dictator" image, where the Spartan Column sees the actions of the loving Benevolent Dictator on some victims - needles stabbed in eyes and their hearts.

Problem with the image is, it's a dark story that taints the meaning of the kanji. Also, you probably have an image set up for Needle and Sideways eye (used a few times)

My story keeps it simple, I have an image of a "benevolent jerk" that assaults the guy leaving a needle in his sideways eye bleeding everywhere, but he still goes to the hospital with him. I just have a strong image for this benevolent jerk in my mind so i never had this issue ^_^
