A kanji is a kanji. The more the better

There's no such thing as *the* most important 2500 kanji; the most important kanji are the ones that appear in what you want to read.

愛嬌 is a word I've seen, but on the whole the kanji is quite rare, I would say. I'm not sure why you singled this one out and asked if it's "true", though.
