KO2001 with Anki: Methodology?

#26
I feel stupid asking this, but is there a hotkey for anki to repeat audio? It's kind of a pain to click that every card.

yes i finished RtK but in a weird way... i did it through smart.fm instead of through an srs and i focused on memorizing the kanji`s keywords more than i did on writing them... i`ve found that since i have going back through the jouyou with KO2001 on Anki that surprise surprise, the RtK stories are completely worthless when it comes to writing the kanji! (IMO) of course, i have never posted before as this website, i just decided to finally give into doing that. the kanji that i have reviewed so far from KO2001 on Anki, (around 400) I can completely write without any story whatsoever and I have perfect recall on their stroke orders and readings... all i did was just lock each kanji in my brain with it`s keyword... i remember no stories at all whatsoever nor do i remember a lot of the primitives.. in fact i don`t even think about them... and for the stroke orders, i just reviewed with the Yamasa dictionary... I have my own unique system that works for me... i just think of a word, and write it.. no intense thinking at all Smile i do give Heisig praise for his keywords, just not for the story system as i feel it is completely unnecessary

EDIT:i think that the whole RtK thing can be thrown out the window after you get the keywords down and then just practice writing all the kanji as you progress through KO2001 Anki will automatically set you up for reviews when you need them... as long as you do at least 2 hours a day on Anki, you should progress really nicely while learning actual readings at the same time as you are learning the kanji

YET ANOTHER EDIT: by the way... i do watch Japanese TV on tvants or justin.tv all day in addition to my Anki studies in addition to constantly reading japanese books throughout the day etc. constant exposure could be helping me a lot too... i live on my computer afterall... not to mention my wife is Japanese and I get a lot of exposure from her as well...oh and all those items/sentences i completed on smart.fm have got to count for something too

Interesting. It must work fairly different for eveyone. I know what you mean though in terms of not needing stories... If it's a kanji I know how to write, stories don't even enter my head. If it's one i'm just training production on through kanken, stories save my life!

i think having all three combinations of the reading, the keyword, and the kanji itself in my head helps me recall what i am thinking about and what i want to write much quicker than if i just had 1 out of the 3. not to mention seeing kanji in context a lot when reading/watching TV helps bring it up as well.

After having started the KO2001 deck, I now see the benefit of having searchable text. The one thing I find that is lacking is that the kanji stroke order font is not showing up because the Japanese is in an image file. I don't need the stroke order, but rather the tooltip where it gives you the English keyword for each kanji. I find myself having to look these up with jisho.org's kanji by radical index, which is very time consuming.

Would anyone happen to know where to acquire the text-based deck? I'd appreciate it if someone could PM/email me about this, as I don't think we should be posting the links here for previously-stated reasons.

Anyway, this deck would be absolutely perfect if only the kanji stroke-order / tooltips would be recognized.

Also, any idea how to change the hotkey for repeat audio? I have the configure keys plugin for anki but the code is set up to change the 1,2,3,4 keys. Having it closer to spacebar would be ideal.

Many thanks!

Hi guys I'm having the same problem as CerpinTaxt was having, The deck I have only has 3104 cards, Sentence -> Audio + Sentence with Furigana

I'm halfway through so at this point I don't want to have to restart on a different anki deck, is there anyway to generate listening cards from the deck I already have?

Thanks
