I've heard that Alan Wake has multiple languages including Japanese on the disc depending what language your system is set to. Haven't been able to confirm it yet though...

Shame that they don't offer the japanese audo on the us discs, though sort of expected, since seeing that the xbox version needs 3 discs, the blueray must be stuffed full with the insane amount of content the game has.
My brother rented the English version of FF13 awhile back, and while I only saw him play some of it (i.e. enough to hear dialogue from all the playable characters), what I did hear made me cringe... I don't even want to hear the voice acting for half the other characters.

It was a shame because aside from Lightning, Sazh's voice acting was my absolute favorite in the JP edition. In the English version, particularly listening to Sazh and Vanille was tough. Sazh just does not sound natural AT ALL imo, and despite Vanille having an OK voice in all respects, that Australian accent is pretty noticeable and to me, just doesn't fit very well with her character (no offense to any Australians!) Maybe it's just me, but I think that type of character (cutesy, playful, high-pitched voices, etc.etc.) is usually just done so much more naturally by Japanese girls/women (think all the anime and similar stuff). Just my two cents.

Overall, I think the only voice actor who did a good job for the English makeover was Lightning's character. It really isn't too far off from the original JP version in my opinion.

I had the opportunity to hear the English version before I heard the Japanese. Even with no Japanese acting as a comparison, I wanted to shoot the guy who acted out サッズ.

So can someone clarify this for me? I live and purchase games in the US. So if I just go to system settings and switch the language to Japanese some of these games will play fully in Japanese? The reason I am asking about this is because I tried it with one of the games listed (Uncharted 1), and I could not get it to play in Japanese at all. Thanks.

For most of the games that is how it works I am unsure about uncharted but I know that some games will boot in English and you have to go to options inside the game and change it (Mobile Suit Gundam for example) most of them should start out in Japanese if you have your system set to Japanese. The region the account is set to might have an effect, I am unsure since I only use my Japanese id with any game I play in Japanese try and make a seperate id and have its region be Japan.

I can't clarify it for you because I don't own any games that are US version but have Japanese audio/text available. However, I used to own Uncharted and Uncharted 2 (both US edition), and I think I said earlier in the thread awhile back, that neither played in Japanese for me. My system is set to Japanese, and neither booted up in Japanese once. While there are many language options in the game menus themselves, Japanese isn't one of them -_- About the only things I got were trophies in Japanese.

So, I'm assuming it won't work for the Uncharted games. Once again, maybe I'm just an idiot or missing something really easy, so if someone HAS played them in Japanese, please say so Tongue

I'm really late to join this thread. Just found it.

I'm curious if anyone ever made a wiki, as someone suggested. I like to play PS3 games in Japanese, but it is very difficult to find if the US versions have the Japanese audio/subtitles. You have to just buy it and try, it seems.

If anyone knows of a good resource, please share!

Thanks.

RevTK has a wiki, why not we just start a page on that?

Vanquish also lets you set the entire game to Japanese.
