wai wai articles : where to find them?

#1
for those who don t know what is wai wai it s a infamous column of the mainichi shinbun who took to translate the japanese gutter press in an english column of a mainstream newspaper .To what extent those articles were faithful to the reality is totally arguable (the family sex-grade business article looks like a basic hentai plot) it still infuriated most japanese to the point where mainichi was compelled to close the column .

anyway as I m always looking for a way to strenghten my immersion I m extremely interested by those articles as it s both very controversial , hence very interesting , and not very serious (at least for me) so a good way to relax . So is there an alternative adress , extracts on 2ch , some kind of compilation on perfect dark ?
any place where I can get my hand on those ?

EDIT: I almost forgot : I m obviously looking for the JAPANESE version even if the issue was raised by the translation. And it would be way better as internet content .
for me it s like reading about peoples :don t intend to buy a newspaper each time I feel bored .

There is no Japanese version of waiwai. The reason it was controversial is because an English-native employee translated stuff from various tabloids and published it in a mainstream respected newspaper as fact, giving many people false impressions about Japan.

What you want is some Japanese tabloids, but I doubt anyone who regularly reads them is the same kind of person that can scan & distribute stuff on the internet. I also doubt there are any tabloids on the internet officially since stories about "Ayumi Hamasaki is actually a shapeshifting lizardperson" won't draw much in the way of ad sponsorship.

actually I got an answer from another board . It gave the adress a wiki with an incomplete archive from 2002 to 2008.
so I don t know if they re re-translate it for the sake of this specific wiki but it IS in japanese http://www8.atwiki.jp/mainichi-matome/pages/1840.html
here s an extract of 「睾丸と触手:海の男は海中生物とヤルことで勇敢さを見せる」

I ll stop here it s waiwai no doubt about it . Gosh .
can t believe some guys really believed this stuff ... maternal blowjob for exam is a bit hard to swallow if i dare to say . But sex with mantra . Big Grin it makes me think to the "An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig " episode of southpark .

too sad in most case there are only the headlines .

Oh cool they have Japanese and English translations side by side! A good find. And I definitely agree, the Waiwai columns did a lot of damage to the reputation of Japan. Probably a lot more than anyone would've expected I suppose.

They are retranslations due to the controversy. Good enough for what you want I guess though..

JP tabloid article intentionally mistranslated to make it even raunchier, retranslated back into Japanese by random 2ch'ers. It makes the translator part of me cry Tongue

I got the feeling it was retranslation .... the sentence structure was just "off" . Didn t sound very natural. Thanks for this confirmation.

Oh and "as for the wai wai did damage to japan "claim....
There are 3 types of people in the world my friend : those who dig japan, those who d like to empty a loaded gun on this damn country .....and those who just don t care .
1st category either reject most of the criticism against japan or know how to deal with it : wai wai is just entertainment and they know it . 2nd category is just looking for an excuse to nuke japan again : wai wai will do it as well as pretty much everything derogatory . And the 3nd category is irrelevant as those guy never got an interest in japan in the first place : who cares about someone s opinion on a subject he doesn t know s.... about ? it won t prevent them to buy a japanese dvd player if it s cheaper. They re just your average dude thrilled or upset 10 times a day for 10 different reasons.

I m far more pissed when feminist , bigot and 2nd rate politicians try to meddle in japanese problems like racism , pornography or woman rights . I guess you could say wai wai fostered an atmosphere of despise and fear that give those guy a better ground . Except this isn t specific to nippon phobia : it comes from low education standard .Desinformation is a part of our high information diet world . So aside from muzzling every media on the face of earth I think there is no effective counter strategy to protect people against themselves.
