needing a little help with anki

#1
i've stopped studying since july and just decided to pick up where i left just now... i'm having problems with anki... well not really malfunction problems but i want certain things to happen and i can't seem to find how to make them happen(i already googled to no avail)

here's what i want to happen.
i want the furigana for the kanji to appear under the keyword
and/or
i want the reading for the kanji to be 'played'(i've heard there are downloadable sound files for this but i can't seem to find it)

oh and btw. sounds nooobish and all but after several months i also forgot how to add a story below the keyword Tongue

No point creating a second thread for need help with Anki so I'll butt in here and put my hand up for a bit of help too.

Just wondering if anyone uses the Japanese Extended plugin 1.14? The only deck it will work with for me is my RTK deck. No matter what I do I cannot get it to display any stats with any other deck and It's really got me stumped. I've tried everything I can think of but to no avail... it seems like a really great plugin and i'd love to have it working for a big deck of sentences.

To the OP I think maybe if you go to browse items and select all then click generate readings?? I've never done but i've just seen those options floating around. That might generate your furigana. Perhaps someone else knows better.

Check the source; I know that the basic Japanese plugin wasn't working for one of my custom models because it was defined to look for specific tags and fields, and I'd done something different with my model.

The plugins are just Python files, you can add your own terms to search for (but I don't know what the performance characteristics are like, so beware creating a gigantic list of alternatives).

I've done this and it works just fine.

edit:
well i got it to work... but its not exactly the most convinient thing to do :| i made it like how stories are added therefore i need to type every single reading... is there any other way?

Have you learned all 2,042 from RTK yet? If no, then don't even bother at looking at anything other than the keyword until you do.

can't i just learn the reading with the kanji... that'd be way easier...

If you can do it all the more power to you. Just get back to us when you are still trucking when you finish RTK while learning the readings along with it.

It's much faster to learn the keywords first then learn the readings through the sentence method. If you learn the readings with the keywords, it will take you ages to learn them all. Even if you have the will power to finish them you won't know the readings in any context anyway...

I don't use the specific plugin you mentioned, but if it works like the default Japanese support plugin it should have a place where it creates a list of models and fields to query for stats gathering. You just need to either modify your model/field to match that or modify it to find your model/field.

I changed the deck model to "Japanese" and still nothing. The model name in the deck it works on is even labeled "Heisig" so I really have no clue.
