I'm really on the fence about ordering Pandora. Assuming there are no mechinical issues with it, the main thing I want to know is will I be able to use all the features of anki (sound, images, etc) or will there be some limitations. I hope to use the pre installed version of linux (dont reall want to get into switch distros if not needed).
I know there are other options out there, seems pandora would be more flexable.
can anyone more computer savy than me weight in and let me know? cheers

well it isnt out so I can`t say anything for certain, but I would assume anki would work completely fine.
(if it doesnt I`ll probably end up prodding it till it does work)

The pandora will be awesome =D Theres no reason it won't be able to run anki, as long as there is a python interpretor and pyqt it will work fine =)
By the way, if you want to order one, I'd suggest you do it soon they'll be shipping the first batch soon and who knows how long it will take for them to make another batch.

After seeing the new Shap net walker down at big denki, I bit the bullet and bought a pandora over the itouch for anki use.

You can still order one I believe. I got mine OK after emailing them directly.
The main thing I am worried about is if the pre made KO2001 deck with the gif images will be readable on the smaller screen. Does small devices like pandora scale the text/image down for you, or will I have to scroll across the screen to read it, I wonder?

I hope so! =)
Someone canceled, and I'm in on the first batch as well.
I'm hoping to pimp it up to become the best portable Japanese learning-tool there is.
(Well... All I want is Anki natively and a Japanese translation of Angstrom Linux, so not too much pimping really, hehe)
