I'm a big fan of the news website Digg.com. For those of you who aren't familiar with it (anyone?), it's a site where people submit a news story they think is interesting and then others vote for it (digg it) if they think it's interesting, and the most dugg stories show up on the main page. So, you're kind of constantly getting a story that is certifiably interesting... at least, the majority of the time.

I doubt there's an exact japanese clone, but is there anything similar?

http://b.hatena.ne.jp/ is the closest I've ever found.
Reddit has a /ja/ subreddit buts it's pretty slow and mostly programming posts.
