For those who have done RTK and are doing KO2001, and are still reviewing RTK in anki:
I think it is a good idea to add to the English keywords in RTK, a Japanese keyword obtained from the most used word in KO2001 with that kanji.
This reinforces the work you are doing in KO2001.
Until I am finished with KO2001, I wouldn't add Japanese keywords to the kanji not included in KO2001, or keywords that are not extracted from KO2001.

Examples:
failure (しっぱい)
semi- (じゅんび)
lean (けいこう)

if you use the proper plug it, you can hover over the kanji and get the keyword, assuming you are not using the deck with gif images....

I think he's talking about adding ko2001 vocab as keywords in an rtk deck, not rtk keywords to kanji in a ko2001 deck...

I've added JLPT and iknow core vocab to my RTK deck as Japanese keywords. I'd like to add ko2001 vocab too but there doesn't seem to be a vocab list available...

I keep reading about people doing this. I would imagine it to be not worth the time as by the time you are at the point where you can replace most of the english keywords with japanese ones your RTK reviews should be so sparce that it isn't much of a time committment per day.

Perhaps consider starting your RtK deck over and re-adding the cards as you added new Japanese keywords from KO?

Reading/comprehending a kanji compound is much, much different than pulling that compound from memory and writing it. I've seen my "real" writing ability (not writing from English keywords) take a huge jump once I switched to using Japanese keywords and have moved away from using English keywords as a device to help me write it. Most of them are now stuck in my head as some weird mixture of form+reading. Before, I'd gone through a few thousand sentences and such... but the words I was learning were mostly just going into my passive vocabulary. I could comprehend them, sometimes say them, but almost never pull them from memory and write them. Not that I've started writing from Japanese keywords, they come to mind linked to an onyomi reading much faster - so not only does it help me to write the keyword I use to remember it, but also other words that I see it in.

I'm not doing KO, though this sorta makes me wish I was now. I think it's a fantastic idea. These readings would be INGRAINED I think by the time you finished this.
