Japanese forums outside of 2ch?

#1
I would like to participate in Japanese forums or at least read them but 2ch is too big to follow honestly. It doesn't really work like a normal forum, people talk like retards, nor do I feel like reading 700 posts before I know what the topic is about
I also of course would like a forum that isn't dead either. Preferably Something that gets more posts than this website, but anything is better than nothing I suppose.

Anyone know anything good? Would be appreciated.

Japan doesn't have any other forums.

 Check 大手小町.

It is part of the Yomiuri Shinbun website, it's full of people writing constantly and the atmosphere is pretty nice.

The standard English style of forum doesn't seem that common in Japan, so you might have trouble finding them. (Though I can't say I've really looked specifically.)

I like to browse this site everyonce in a while

Its a site for canadian japanese (mostly girls) with relationship problems. Its alot of fun to read, and is relelvant to real life situations. Meaning you will pick up alot of useful words.

I don't know if it's worth it (just learned 450 kanjis with RTK...) but there is a japanese equivalent to Slashdot.org called Slashdot.jp (スラッシュドット・ジャパン)

I never found it particularly worthwhile. Comment volume is comparatively low, and it always acted as a vector to suck me back to the English version (which, besides being in English, is also primarily a waste of my time to begin with).

Wow was this site fun to browse! How did you come across such a site, anyway? So far I've read about a lot of... interesting topics. Let's just say the timing for when to tell your partner to put a condom on was the most tame one of them all.

Thumbs up to you, good sir. I will be reading that when I'm bored now.

It would waste a lot less time if it wasn't enjoyable.
