Japanese audiobooks?

#1
Hey all!

First off, I hope I'm posting this topic in the proper forum Smile I think so... right?

Okay, second... I know there's a lot of posts already asking for this Japanese resource and that, but well... that's what it's the "Learning resources" forum for, right? (I hope so anyway)

I didn't find any topic yet mentioning audiobooks specifically. It'd be great if any of you know a place where you can find audiobooks online, if possible free and legal Big Grin I don't know if such a thing is reasonable to ask for (I haven't searched for audiobooks before in any language yet, really), but if not, feel free to let me know that as well and I'll think of something else.

Thanks in advance!

there is a post already listing the free audiobooks. they are a pain to download and not any recent books like harry potter etc. what i would give to find a place like jpopsuki for real audiobooks.

Really, there is? In that case I'm sorry, I didn't find it - are they called something different in the post? Anyway, I'll look again...

I have it saved in my favorites, so I figured I'd save you the searching Smile

Hey, thanks Big Grin that's strange though, shouldn't that post have just showed up if I searched for Audiobooks, especially in the topic text? Ah well, thank you very much!

If they are new, they're under copyright and you'd have to buy them, right?

Oh, here's some short stories(100 creepy 'ghost' stories).

Yes, much like this post is under copyright and you have to buy it.

(Seriously though, it'd be under copyright unless the rightsholder releases it into the public domain, but that doesn't stop the rightsholder from giving it away for free. For example, ふぁんた時間 is all under copyright (the stories mostly aren't, but the recordings are new and therefore are), and the rightsholder uses that right to distribute it for free over the intertubes.)

Edit: if radio drama is ok as well (well, ok, "voice drama"), there's Replica Blue.

Sorry for using the wrong terminology?

If you used the wrong terminology, I didn't catch it. I was addressing the minor error of assuming new=under copyright (usually, but can be forfeited among other special cases) and the more major error of assuming under copyright=only lawfully available in exchange for money.

I noticed recently that there are a fair number of audiobooks on the iTunes Store (日本) under オーディオブック.
