RTK I/II/III for around $12 from UH press - Sept 4th only

#1
Advance TLDR: RTK I, II, or III new for $12, which is 50% less than used at Amazon, but you gotta buy it from UH Press on Friday 9a-2p.

Long version:
Yo. So I remember not being able to afford books (still can't). And I know some of you here are making do on the site without TK1 or 3, but would still like to have the book.

Well, apparently UH Press is doing a sale - I got an email from them, and am forwarding it here.

Quote:Join us in celebrating 62 years of publishing with our 62/62 special sale. We want to thank all of our loyal customers, sponsors, colleagues, blah blah blah

Here's the deal: On Friday, September 4, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Hawai`i standard time (HST) (click here for a handy time zone converter)--for just six hours and twenty minutes--all UH Press books will be available at a 62% discount. If you splurge and purchase at least $62.00 worth of books, we'll throw in free Surface Mail shipping in the U.S. from our warehouses in Pennsylvania and Hawai`i. (Free shipping will be calculated when your order is processed--not in the shopping cart.)

So go to our web site, http://www.uhpress.hawaii.edu , and put together your wish list of UH Press titles. Then be sure to log in and place your order during the six-hour-and-twenty-minute sale. Only online orders will receive the 62% discount.
So if you go here and look for the RTK books, you'll prolly find what you're looking for.

As a side note - I'm obviously not associated with UH Press in any way (only got the email cause I bought RTK3 from them a year ago) - actually, I'm not sure they'd enjoy me posting this here. But for those of you who were planning on just bootlegging the PDF - or who already have - this might be a nice compromise. $12 ain't a bad investment.

Holy s*** this is bizarre! I was just about to purchase RTK: 3 and was umming and ahh-ing over the £26, I normally miss these kinds of things.

I wasn't going to get RTK 2 but I may as well now, even if it is just to have a look at it.

Thank you very much Big Grin.

(I found this using search, I read 2009 in the email, had to check though, my luck it would be 2005)

HOLY MAN! Thanks a ton!

I know a couple of people that were holding off ordering these and the Hanzi books, and this is a fantastic opportunity to order them all at once.

what's the shipping cost to the UK? I can't seem to find it on the site..

I made an account to try and figure it out, it seemed to be an extra $10 when I ordered 1 book. Don't take my word for it though, it could not have taken the UK address into account at that stage, but I didn't want to go further and end up buying it by accident.

I also came up with $10 postage airmail (per volume); that was to Japan, not to the UK. Still something of a saving.

Thanks for the heads-up, dihutenosa. I may order a couple of things. Any other interesting titles, not necessarily limited to Japanese language?

hey -

yeah, sorry, I can't say I have much in the way of shipping/etc information. I'm guessing shipping is cheapest inside the states - not that it does much good for me as I'm in Tokyo now. I also already own RTK 1 and 2 so I won't be using this, but figured I'd give people a heads up who wanted a physical copy but didn't wanna be price gouged.

yukkuri_kameさん、I don't really know what else they have, unfortunately. I did a quick search to see if they had anything written Japanese and didn't see anything though (pretty strict ajatt) coulda missed something though.

Bump;

they extended the sale for 2 hours, so there's still half an hour left at the time I write this. $11 for 7-day shipping to New England.

All told, I'm getting RtK 2 and 3 for $16 each.

Muchos gracias to dihutenosa.

erm, I guess that should be 「有難う御座いました」

Hey, anyone who ordered from the continental US, would you please a heads up (in this thread) when you get your books. Books are being shipped to my home in South Florida, but I am in Japan until next week. Have a friend looking after my place, but it will be better if I send him a reminder.

Thanks again dihutenosa.
