How come I didn't know about this book earlier?! I just started it today and wish I'd read it at the start. The material is advanced (since it's aimed at adult native Japanese readers) but extremely thoroughly discussed sentence by sentence. The format is addicting and the editor knows his stuff. He explains grammar way better than I've ever heard it explained anywhere.
The material was challenging here and there for me but once you get the editor's explanation of what you're stuck at, it all becomes clear. Possibly better than the Reading Real Japanese and Exploring/Breaking into Japanese Literature series. Well, maybe not better, but different and refreshing. (if only it had audio)
Just ignore the terribly corny, campy and/or sappy title and you have a really valuable text.
