Funniest Sentence In KO.

thecite Wrote:猿やゴリラの社会についての本を読んだ。 私の会社に似ている。

I thought that was fairly funny.
The writers of KO seem to have put a lot of self-opinion influenced sentences in.
Yes some of the opinions bug me but then I take a deep breath and realise it's quite possibly what someone else would say. Thus it won't hurt to learn it.

One of my favourites is:
いくら科学が進歩しても、タイムマシンを作るのは不可能だ。
No matter how much science advances, it is still impossible to create a time machine.

We all know that time machines could possibly exist - heaven't they heard of parallel universes?

I get greatly upset when this one comes up in reviews. I then spend the next 1/2 hour justifying to myself that it could exist and keep working on my machine.

My favorite is still mezbup's original one. Sounds like a conspiracy theorist.

I swear the voice actor threw it in at the last moment without anyone noticing.

My girlfriend visited me from Osaka this month. She arrive in Honolulu 12 hours before she left. I think JAL has a time machine.

アインシュタインの理論は複雑だ。普通の人は理解できない。 (Einstein's theory is complicated. Ordinary people cannot understand it.)

This one is my pet peeve. I'm not saying that all of Einstein's work is simple to understand, but special relativity is (it only requires 中学生 level maths) and it really opens one's mind to a different way of thinking about time and the universe.

Could it be that a derailing with no victims is hardly worth mentioning in the news?

I dunno. The *concept* of special relativity is simple, but as soon as you actually teach the damn thing, I'm pretty certain most people would not understand.

You've made me spend RTK time on the theory of relativity, you did good my friend...
And KO sentence is correct Smile

That's actually an interesting and little known fact - the moon rotates at the same speed as the earth, so the same half is always facing us, and the other half (the "dark side of the moon") is always facing away.

No one knew what it looked like until 1959!

Not quite stated accurately, because it has nothing to do with the Earth's rotational speed. Better to say the moon's rotational speed is the same as its own orbital period, thus facing the same side constantly to the center point of its orbit. (Gravitational interplay between bodies of different size usually result in this, after very long periods of time; Mercury is locked into the same thing with the sun -- one side perpetually faces it.)

Moon's also leaving. Doesn't like the neighborhood I guess. About 2.6 cm a year (about the same speed as my hairline) Sad, so only 16 miles in a million years. But it's eventually outta here.

This one just came up in Anki and I remember laughing when I first saw it...

現在の技術では宇宙旅行は無理だ。でも将来 宇宙旅行は実現するだろう。

it is impossible to travel into space with our current technology. However, it will
probably become a reality in the future.

I'm guessing "houston" was just TOO hard to pronounce for the Japanese so they deny the existence of space travel and NASA all together. It's just a coincidence that the FICTIONAL Nasa in the KO books is a space travel company too... hmm... how curious.

Okay I think we should start compiling a formal list of these, because some of them are priceless. Also it'll make me feel less guilty about buying KO2001 and then switching to pretty much only using the smart.fm lists in KO order.
