'Westerners look at the eyes and the mouth in equal measure, whereas Easterners favor the eyes and neglect the mouth. This means that Easterners have difficulty distinguishing facial expressions that look similar around the eye region.'

The discovery shows that human communication of emotion is a lot more complex than experts had believed, according to the researchers led by Roberto Caldara at The University of Glasgow. As a result, facial expressions that had been considered universally recognizable cannot be used to reliably convey emotion in cross-cultural situations."

That sort of explains why I can never tell white people apart.
Forget memorizing names. For the longest while I thought Cameron and Cuddy were the same people (for a while they had the same hair color and similar hair style, I think) on House (It's a medical drama they air in the states).

Yeah, I was like that for while when I first moved to VA. I couldn't for the life of me tell the difference between all those blonde pop stars.

I couldn't tell any of the alllooksame people apart because they were all smiling, though. Some of them didn't even look like they were from asia.
