Translation for a personal ad please?

#1
Hey, I'd like to post an ad saying about the following:

*********
Date of the day: 2009年8月1日
I'm looking for a second-hand Japanese rice-cooker. The model is for 2 to 3 persons (3 cups ?) and has a programmable timer. Zojirushi, National, Panasonic brands are appreciated. Please call me on my mobile (00-00-00-00-00) or send an email to XXX@hotmail.com.
Thank you.
*********

Here are two typical links that can help:
-an ad of soemene selling a rice-cooker: http://paris-japan.com/postDetail.jsf?post_id=2840
-the official product information of a zojirushi model: http://www.zojirushi.co.jp/syohin/ricecooker/NPLU.html

I could try myself to replace the English keywords in by Japanese words/kanji in my text, like 炊飯器 for rice-cooker and 3 合炊き for 3 cups , but I'm actually just started to learn Japanese and I want my add to be understandable. Can anyone help me with that one please? THANKS.

Post it lang-8 asking for a translation. I'm sure you'd get an appropriate reply seeing as it would be from Japanese natives.

Sorry, I'm a newbie and not familiar with "lang-8". What does it mean? Where do I find it? Thx

You might want to throw this at the end of the ad:

追伸:日本の炊飯器を利用したことがないため、何合炊きが適当であるか計りかねたのですが、2〜3人用ということで3合炊き程度のものを考えております。もしよろしければ、おすすめの大きさなども教えていただけると幸いです。

Basically it says, "P.S. I am thinking of using it for 2~3 persons, but I have never used a Japanese rice-cooker. I am grateful if you could recommend to me a suitable size."

Also, any Japanese who reads this ad would assume you're reeeeeeeeeeeealy fluent, and most likely respond to you in Japanese unless you mention your Japanese level, native language and whatnot.

Just on the off chance that you're in Tokyo and willing to wait until late March . . . I have a cute little 3 cup rice cooker from Tiger (model JAU-A550). I believe it is programmable, though I haven't used that function, yet. It'll be about 18 months old at that point.

Yeah I don't really see the point of a want-ad unless you are in a pretty gaijin-free city. There are always tons of sayonara sales in Osaka, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagoya, and other major cities where you can get a ton of stuff for cheap.

The fact is that I'm in Paris, FRANCE. I know you can sometime find Japanese expats going back home and selling their stuff, but it is kind of rare...

God, I think I would die without my Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy® NS-ZCC10. I've had it for around five years now, I believe. Never fails to make perfect rice! This is not an advertisement.

Anyone else see the thread title and assume this was going to be a dating ad? Wink

I don't know if the post of nertOr is an ad or not coz I see he registered on 2007-10-19. Still, I'd be interesting to get one of those Neuro Fuzzy logic rice cooker: you can get there in Japanese grocery stoes or Chinese supermarkets here in Paris, but their prices are deadly expensive. Would anybody know the best way to get one? Order it online? From what site? I've been tempted by eBay but the seller seemed to be in Hong Kong or Singapore, and the price was still quite high. Directly from a Japanese web site? Which ones?

Regarding purchasing Japanese products: I once read that some companies in Japan could do shopping for you, repackaged the several purchases in a single package and ship it to you. This was supposed to cost less than buying the stuff in France. Unfortunately, I can't find the web page again. Would you know of such service Japanese companies?

Hmm...what do you think nest0r? Are you an ad bot since you have a registration date that spans back? With that criteria maybe I'm one too. Tongue Anyways... As for rice cookers, if you're in Paris I would assume looking online would be a good bet for you.

He's an automated bot. He prowls the forum at night. The mods have tried to remove him, but he always comes back stronger...harder...faster. I would just ignore whatever he says (except for the things which are pertinent. But you should read all of his posts carefully and in depth to check which points are pertinent. And then ignore the un-pertinent points which you have just read.)

PS. That was a roundabout way of reassuring you that nestor is not, in fact, an ad bot. Although I could really go for one of those Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy® NS-ZCC10's right now...

Robot NestOr says he's got his Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy® NS-ZCC10's for 5 years. There may be a better, updated model to get, don't you think?

Hmm thats true. I guess that means he did a bad job of advertising then, huh? He totally missed the opportunity to up-sell.

hehe. I am an evolved bot. Over the years I have developed a highly refined set of responses to ensure I pass every Turing test. Tobberoth is also a bot, designed to provoke the forum. My Zojirushi is also a bot, it has a fuzzy logic chip! It was expensive, that's true.

Except that this model was reverse engineered out of technology stolen from 10 years in the future by Zojirushi's time-traveling department.

If you have a # in your name, you might be a bot.

blackmacros is true: you failed your mission of up-selling, dear robot nest0r.

Serious matter here: how much did you pay for that Zozo...? Where did you buy it? Also, are you in the US? I guess you don't need any power transformer to make it work in the US? In France, we do coz that brand does not provide any model adapted for the European Community.

Is this for me? I bought it on Amazon with my financial aid money. ;p http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-NS-ZCC10...B00007J5U7 - It's one of five items I kept when I graduated and moved. No power transformer required where I am. I don't know anything about France, I only read a bit about European power outlets in William Gibson's novel Pattern Recognition, sounds weird.

What does the neuro-fuzzy logic chip do anyway? Why do you need a chip to cook rice? (though I bet some old amd processors could probably be used as heating elements)

By the way, I see that your NS-ZCC10 is 5-1/2-cup cooker. What size of cooker would you recommend for 2 people only?
I'm not very familiar with the US dimensions I can read on Amazon description, but what's its acutal size compared to... I don't know... a Dummies book... or a, iPhone? :-) LOL

I'm serious: I have a very small flat. Is your zozorobot small and effective?

I don't know, I don't think I've ever used more than half my Zojirushi's capacity. There's also this, though I don't like that stainless steel design as much as the capsular futuristic one: http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-Micom-Co...35-9134441

As for the size, hard to say--it fits neatly in my kitchen, pretty small.

Weird timing: http://www.wired.com/reviews/product/pr_ricecooker

An incomplete review, however--it complains about the speed, but there's a Quick Cook setting, the rice averages 20-40 minutes that way, depending on the type and volume. + It's $165, not $180.
