I do not have suspended cards so I did not notice this, I`ll work on it tonight or tomorrow.

TM, I cannot seem to solve this font thing at all. I must be missing something somewhere, especially if, as you said, it should work.

The following is some of the code in my "ankids.conf" file (which I have located in my ankids folder on my microSD in my R4 chip). Is there something wrong with my editing of the code? I have tried different numbers for the fontsize values to no avail. It changes nothing on my DS Lite.
Code:
# font size for cards
topfontsize=44
bottomfontsize=44
In my ankids folder I have the .ttf file required (I can send you a list of the files I have in this folder should you think I am missing something), so I don't know what I could be missing here. I am working from linux, but I don't believe that to be creating any problems.

Regarding a completely unrelated problem, I have downloaded the newest release of this program, and it seems I cannot figure out how to erase any drawings I make. With the older versions I would just touch the dpad and my drawings would be gone, but with this release that seems to not be the case...

Anyway, thanks for putting up with my bullshit problems. Also, I appreciate you getting back to my last post so quickly. Thanks again, -LT

I'm not ToasterMage, but...in NDSRS, the X button toggled drawing off and on. Is that not the case here?

Thanks to_nihon, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I used to use the old ndsrs too, and that toggle feature was nice, but I'm not sure if it has been ported over fully into ankids. I know TM mentioned a lot of things were stripped down to get a basic working program out quickly. I'm assuming that is what happened here.

I just tried the font settings, it works fine
it will only work when reviewing, the deck selection screen is a fixed font size.

I redid how drawing works a bit so it seems like I forgot to make a way to clear it(I dont use the feature myself).
L/R clears now, as well as the top left corner.

Just bought myself a DS to use with kakitorikun / bimoji etc. which have just arrived from Amazon.

Anki ds sounds rather useful too; what do I need to get it to work? Do I need to know about the murky world of R4 / homebrew etc.? Any pointers to get me started gratefully received...

TM,

Yeah, even when I am reviewing, the font never changes. Well, I appreciate you looking into it. If it works for you but not for me, I could always blame myself, but I'm gonna take the shameless approach and blame it on my computer, DS, R4 card, or a combination of these instead. Maybe I'll wipe my card and load everything on fresh again...maybe.

Anyway, thanks for addressing the writing mode and looking into the new/suspended cards thing, and I will definitely be looking at your future releases. As always, thanks for all the effort. -LT

Best look up 'DS Homebrew' and start from there...lots of good info out there. I settled on the Acekard 2+ after some reviews I dug up via Google.

We have another developer helping toastermage out Smile
He has made some tweaks to the sourcecode. Feel free to give it a try here: http://groups.google.com/group/ankisrs/b...33cc795d18

he emailed me the other day and I have been looking through the changes.

I`ll probably have something up by the weekend.

I finally got my flashcard and started using ankidssync. First of all: Thank you for this wonderful tool.

Like leafy_tree, I could not change the font size, could not erase my handwriting and got a lot of new cards.

My suggestions for the interface: Make it more look like anki
- when the question is shown, we only need one button "show answer" (I prefer buttons to find out which key does what). Being able to change the score is more irritating than helpful.
- if we don't need the up/down button, we can do something useful like changing the font size
- when the answer is shown, we need the score buttons. Hitting one of ("easy", "good", "hard" or "fail" will jump to the next card and clear the handwritings.
- Okay, I forgot to mention the manual "clear handwriting" button

Just my suggestions. What do you think?

Hey-why not ask damien to add anki ds to his "mobile" section of his website

http://ichi2.net/anki/download/index.html

and ask for help with development? It seems he has people working on various mobile devices (Android, etc). It might take off......

uh, what?

if you would read you would see it is fixed and will be released this weekend when I do some other things.

I emailed him when I finished it, he can add if he feels like it (I really don`t mind).

people are free to send patches.
that means something generated from the diff command, full files will be completely ignored.

Just a side note: I'm not talking to anyone in particular, but everyone, please make sure you're not demanding too much from TM. Remember that he's working on this in his spare time, for free, because he enjoys it, OK? Let's not put any pressure on the artist.

ToasterMage: Thank you.

which is why sending it and having it posted on anki's official page might invite some to help take the work load off Smile

well, if too much code is contributed, I feel like the project isn`t mine anymore and then pretty much refuse to fix a bunch of issues

Uups. I mixed button and keys. What I meant was that the up- and down keys could be used to make the displayed text (question or answer) bigger or smaller.

I hope my last post didn't give the impression that I demand something from ToasterMage. That would be the wrong impression (blame it on my bad English). I tried to give my suggestions and others can tell what they think about. Like this, maybe ToasterMage can get some new ideas. What he does with these ideas is up to him. If he ignores them, rejects them, that's his right, because he came up with the brilliant ideas behind ankidssync.

By the way, looking forward to his next release. Smile

screen is clear-able and suspended cards don`t get sent.

font size possibly unresolved since it works for me and I can`t fix something that works.

edit:
turns out font size suck due to comments in the config file.
removing comments should fix the issue.

edit2:
and by comments I mean linebreaks

Strange thing: the DS sync button is missing for me now. I'm using 0.9.9.8.5. It was in the toolbar before, but now it's missing, even when I close the active deck. Is it hidden somewhere else?

rather than have a button I opted to have it always waiting for a connection in the background.

so you can sync while not at home or something.

OK, so all I need to do is fire up Anki and open my deck? Or leave the deck closed?

deck needs to be open

trying to sync with no deck open is undefined behavior and may do weird shit.
dont do it.

wtf is with that NO VIRGIN MEDIA USERS thing on your site? I understand that you think net neutrality is important, but protesting by dissallowing access to your site to a select group of people is sort of ironic, don't you think?

Also, those articles are both well over a year old, and Virgin still hasn't got around to charging me more for visiting Disney.com, maybe its safe to take off your tinfoil hat? Wink If you disagree, could you at least fix the broken picture?Smile

Anyway, I'd love to try out and tell you what I think of AnkiDS, but I can't download the file because you're blocking access from my ISP Sad

Will AnkiDS work with the Nintendo DS Wi-Fi USB Connector? I'm not sure if that actually sets up a wireless network, per se.
